This guy was so original he spawned an entire genre of imitation videos. And they all are so much worse.

Funny, I’ve never watched the imitation videos (see them on my feed a lot), but it’s interesting to see how one man’s hobby and passion will inevitably be commercialized by someone else. They have basically created a short film movie studio out of this genre. I watch all of your videos, though, and even got your book for Christmas. You have inspired so many around the world, even if simply to go outside and enjoy the sounds of nature. That is to your credit, thank you John.

John Plant is in my opinion the single most talented person I have ever had the pleasure of watching. I do hope there will be a second book.

I think is cool that you’re sharing this video. I always get frustrated when I see Primitive Technology copycats on trending or the recommended page with so many views when so many are obviously fake. Not that there’s anything wrong with taking inspiration from you, and if I remember correctly you’ve even supported and encouraged other creators of which do it right.

Even with all of the fake equipment and extra people I always found your videos more entertaining because it feels like I can recreate your videos in real life. It feels more inspiring

Must say, I never did believe that two guys with shovels did all that. If they wanted to convince people, all they had to do was run a non stop video appropriately sped up in some places. Instead they conveniently cut to an already finished portion of a build exactly when you think that they could really use an excavator or a team of labourers.

I love that they are calling out these ludicrous fakers finally. They have ruined the Primitive genre of YouTube. You can't look up anything about Bushcraft without running into some fake AF channel... Primitive Tech is the real OG and we love him for it.

I was in the army and trying to dig a hole is ridiculously tough. I'm a short guy so I only need to dig a 6feet hole. Whether straight down or horizontally, it's always ridiculously tough with just a short shovel. It can take me up to 2hours just to dig 4-5 feet. And if the weather is warm, it cna take longer.

I’ve always been kinda pissed from these fake channels, they took a cool idea and milked it for profit without giving a damn about the original community that the idea was built upon

@Mr.Mister001

I just wanted to say thank you for the videos and effort. I would give almost anything to be physically healthy. If I get depressed from my pain and exhaustion, your videos are helpful. I used to build anything I could dream up. So, your videos take me back to my good years even though I'm not even 40. I hope you realize how wonderful being healthy is. I'm sure you do but many take it for granted. It's so sad to see people that make themselves unhealthy... My apologies for being melancholy. It's been a rough day. Again, thanks for the videos and for being honest. Working hard can be as rewarding as the project. I'm sure you understand. You have my prayers and views. Keep it up.

Thanks for giving the real thing, there was one time when during Christmas I put one or two of your movies on tv and we watched it together for almost an hour in complete silence. It was gold.

Thought it was obvious. The ones that really grind my gears are the "bushcraft survival" channels where they build a very cinematic house and use power tools openly on camera.

Bro I have been a fan since the begining. I love you’re video’s. Keep up the great work

For me you're only the legitimate survival vlogger and I know it since I've subscribed to you since 2018, All of your videos are so interesting to watch and you can also learn alot of things from it.

@Qopzeep

I don't care about how big the projects are. I can watch you sharpen a stone into an axe for half an hour and find it a very relaxing and satisfying experience. Much more so than some random guy building a swimming pool. Keep on doing what you're doing!

they all came out right before you suddenly disappeared from youtube😂 I'm glad you're back this channel is still a legend

I am so glad to see you post this, I have seen so many of these copycat videos and they are so terribly infuriating. Especially when it’s way unreal!!! (It’s not “primitive technology” if you’re using an Apple Watch and its tools XD)It’s so good to see the father of the genre spread the word about some of these bogus copycats! Happy to see you back and posting!!

@JohnGault2398

When I first found your channel you had 5 or 6 videos up. I have been a subscriber since then. I have watched a few video's from the imitators and found them somewhat lacking. The way you convey useful information in complete silence is amazing and a large part of the appeal of your channel.

Great video! Also im so happy that the father of primitive technology is back. Watched you since I was a child, you disappeared when I started my Uni days but now I've got a job and its nostalgia all over again. Especially loved the bow and arrow video maybe we'll get a remake? 😍
