#ThrowbackThursday to our stay at Crystal Palace Caravan And Motorhome Club campsite in London 🌇
It’s the oldest-surviving site on the CAMC network (initially called ‘Caravan Harbour’ in the 1950s and 1960s) and unfortunately it is constantly under threat of closure due to impending developers 😤 This site is a real gem for its city location, which puts it a 30 minute bus ride or 15 minute train ride from the very centre of London. But Crystal Palace itself is a wonderful place to spend the weekend ❤️
There’s the main Crystal Palace park which adjoins the site, home of full scale sculptures of dinosaurs, a free maze, Crystal Palace bowl (where Bob Marley played his last ever concert) and the National Sports Centre. It’s also the home of the remains of Crystal Palace, which was destroyed by a fire in 1936.
Elsewhere, this upmarket London suburb is a bustling town full of cute homeware shops, antique dealers and small cafes/bars 🍻 Its all located within easy walking distance of the CAMC site.
Our main reason for staying there in September 2022 was to visit the ABBA Voyage show, which is truly a concert like no other! I absolutely recommend going to see it, it’s probably the best concert I’ve ever seen!
All in all, it’s a really interesting place to stay. The site is quiet and secluded, which is at odds with its central London location! I hope the CAMC can work something out with the proposed developers, because it would be a travesty to lose such a great campsite 💔 Go and visit whilst you still can!
📍Crystal Palace, London 📖 Crystal Palace Caravan And Motorhome Club Site 💰 from £22.30 per night
