I think a lot of people bought gold specially in the early years of RS2 and OSRS but as Leagues and Ironman came out i believe more people appreciate there own characters achievements and value.

Honestly, Jagex needs to lower the price of bonds if they even want to attempt to eliminate RWT. No matter what they do there will always be bots and people that can find ways around buying and selling gp without getting caught.

I'm a grown ass adult that doesn't have time to spend grinding money in a game i loved to play as a kid.

Haven't bought gold in RS or WoW. I've only done it once through legal channels, and that was a PLEX I bought from EvE Online. The corporation I was in favored using disposable ships, and being the hoarder I am, I needed a huge surplus of them to feel comfortable flying them. I think it was only a one-time purchase of $50. I have a job too, sure. And I can finance a ton of gold if I wanted to. But I play this game mostly for nostalgia reasons. Making money and using the Grand Exchange are features, not obstacles.

This problem has been going on for two decades. They'll never eradicate or reduce it. In the 20 years I've been playing, it's never shown any results.Whether it's bots or rwt, every year they claim to improve their systems and are surpassed. Their RWT system is too outdated, and I doubt it'll change. They have such idiotic criteria. If you trade a player who is signed to RWT, it affects you even if you don't know it. It's like trying to catch a money laundering ring. Given the way the economy is going, I wouldn't be surprised if I had an object that fell into the hands of a RWT.

Of course dirty gold is cheaper. But buying bonds selling them is not just to boost accounts. It was made to stop credit card frauds, and allow players to pay for membership by grinding. Which keeps people playing. Buying bonds is good for business and updates in game

i buy gold to buy bonds from the G.E then use the bonds for membership on my group ironman, my entire group does it as it's much cheaper this way.

So many player lying about buying gold. I bet it's linked cognitive dissonance. People like to see themselves as "legit" players. So when admitting they purchased gold, would clash with their self image, which preserves their reputation, so they can feel accomplished for their wealth and achievements. RuneScape is notorious for pride on grinding for their loot/skills/capes etc. etc.. So when the honor system is broken by cheating, of course they will not admit to such a thing. I still think the vast majority of mains buy gold now and most people did in the past too. Why else would there be such an astronomical amount of gold farming, websites, discords, forums base to sell and buy gold? Online, you have total anomality, but people still choose to lie. As if telling the truth would take away their ease of minds.

No way for me to prove it on my non-ironman account but after allllll these years the last time i played a couple months back i finally have a 1B bank value and it felt really great knowing i did that myself over the course of many years. Don't rob yourself of a great experience by cheating!

I enjoy osrs, I love the game, and I am a person who supports things I enjoy. Ppl can do what they want, but me personally, will always just buy a bond for some gold because it supports the game that I enjoy playing & hope continues to stay alive for a long time.

Who the fuck buys osrs gp when it's easy to make gp. All anyone needs is patience. It will happen when it damn well happens.

I used to when I was a child, but now as a grown adult I don't want to risk my account

Have you done BOTH of the following two things in the past 12 months?
1) Played OldSchool RuneScape in the past 12 months
2) Purchased OSRS GP in the past 12 months against game rules (buying bonds from Jagex does not count)
