I served many years with him. He treated his men very well. He was a bit of a dickhead but he undeniably died like a true Roman .

I don't blame Antony. I blame the Witch of the Greco-Egyptian Kingdom for seducing him with her black magic!

People that say he was a traitor for dividing romes eastern provinces do not understand what we was really trying to do. He was trying to secure the eastern provinces via a network of alliances while also marrying the roman state with egypt. He wasn’t selling out rome at all, nor was he just sucking up to cleopatra. He was an idiotic general in armenia tho.

“When I was a young man, I defended the State. As an old man, I shall not abandon it. I give sincere thanks to Mark Antony, who has generously presented me with the most promising theme imaginable. I address you directly, Antony. Please listen as if you you were sober and intelligent, and not a drink-sodden, sex-addled wreck. You are certainly not without accomplishments: it is a rare man who can boast of becoming a bankrupt before even coming of age. You have brought upon us war, pestilence and destruction. You are Rome's Helen of Troy. But then... but then a woman's role has always suited you best."

While I am inclined to say he died a true Roman, his behavior at the very end showed he was a man easily controlled by his passions. While his intentions were certainly to benefit Rome in his own mind I think it would be an insult to put such a materialistic and capricious man in the same category as Romans who tried to temper their passions.

I think everyone ignores the fact Mark Antony's memory was erased as much as possible as part of Augustus' propaganda. Who knows how much of what the sources say are altered facts. Everyone likess to say Caligula, Nero and Domitian were victims of senatorial slander but honestly I think mark antony was no different. You can his story is manipulated by just seeing how everybody just straight up signs with Octavian, the good guy and the saviour of the Republic. Same thing how everyone teams up with Constantine while literally all of his rivals are portrayed as cleary dickheads

I think a lot of the truth regarding things has been lost/ purposefully obfuscated by the victors.

Only thing i blame him for is cleopatra, that women causes damnn troubles.... To me he made a small treason, it was better of for octavian to rule, and even tho i like caesar having a son i think it was the right thing to have him killed like he would have antony and cleopatra killed, smart.. antony was a great roman man but also not a very good one i mean his rule during caesar absence was horrible
