Jack Nicholson is my favorite joker. He truly captured the signature madness. Heath ledger’s death was a tragedy and he played a good roll but he made the Joker darker and more twisted rather than the ideal almost comical evil the traditional joker is. Joaquin played a more pathetic form and jarred Leto gave us w whole new character completely. He showed more of a passionate man, however the Batman movie and comics that birthed a different perspective of a more violent less noble batman vigilante that brutalized the joker by beating all the teeth out of his head. The new Robert Pattinson batman also portrayed the caped crusader beating men to death with his bear hands in the first five minutes of the movie. This doesn’t fit the batman mo at all.

IMO, when it comes to The scariest Joker, I will have to say it's Jack Nicholson's portrayal. Why? because He Jack Napier, was Crazy & spontaneous. Let's Not forget He killed His right hand Man Bob, with His own Gun. He was going to kill little Bruce Wayne, but His Goon friend, told Him "Let's go Jack." THAT makes IMO, Jack's portrayal The scariest.
