Some people love sharing their work. Others keep their sketchbooks under lock and key.

Sharing your art can feel vulnerable—maybe someone’s words from years ago still echo in your head. Maybe you just want to create for yourself.

Where do you land? Vote in the poll, then tell me: How do you feel when you show your art to someone else? AND if you do share it, where?

Art is my grief therapy, meant for me alone. It is the process, not the product that is important to me.

My answer isn't in the poll. I like to share my art but it is still personal for me, so mainly with friends and family. But I shared a bit at Instagram as well. I see all my art as good enough, because I know that it only gets better with practice and I allow myself to make 'not so good' art as well. Sometimes it is interesting, because I find gems out of several drawings when I do expect it the least.

I am intentional and selective in my sharing for sure. I feel more comfortable sharing online, rather than telling and sharing with people I know in real life. In real life, my work is in lock and key mode lol

I don't share on social media, I don't really share anything on social media. I show friends or family if they want to see.

I think it’s important to share even the stuff you aren’t that proud of. It’s helpful to share and for others to see the mistakes too. One of the issues with social media (including YouTube) is the glossiness and keeping up appearances. It causes unnecessary pressure to be perfect. Nobody’s perfect, no person makes perfect art all the time.

I only share art though that I feel comfortable sharing based off the subject matter. If I feel it's something I want to keep to myself I do. But I love sharing my art with people though I am always scared of criticism.

I only share with a select few. These people are very close to me. I love their input but they are not going to shatter me. This is an outlet for me, I don’t need harsh criticism.

I share things I find good enough with family and friends. I used to post to Instagram but with the algorithm changes a few years back that just became less fun. So I don't really post to the general public. But I still love to create and give drawings as gifts to other people

I never share because I don’t know… I sourly judge my work when it’s done. I’ve been bullied in the past for sharing my art. I don’t think it’s worthy of appreciation. Praying that my heart would change because art has been my passion since I was a child. My place of repose. I want to be brave.

I share whenever it's relevant. If it's possible to connect with someone through my art- in any medium- I will gladly do so. Sure it might be somewhat personal, but imo, that's the entire purpose of art- to share a common idea, meaning, and purpose portrayed through the art

My actual answer is not in the poll. I love sharing, and I don't really care if I think what I'm sharing is great, good or meh. I like seeing other peoples’ process and I know that not everything is going to be gallery worthy… in fact, the pieces that are pretty rough are usually the ones I find the most interesting. However, in the last couple years I've gotten out of the habit of posting anywhere. I got tired of Instagram (annoyed by the algorithm and frequent attempts at having my account hacked) so I just stopped posting. I started a substack, but I never really feel like taking the time to photograph or scan my sketchbooks and create a post 🤷‍♀️

Hello shayda.. my sketching makes me happy and I sketch things or events in my life. I love showing it to people who are interested...my visitors (I don't live where I was born) , friends...instead of photos 🤍
