Thanks for the reason for this issue this issue! Did not hear back from Techland support yet. I remember Metro Exodus having this issue too. We need more powerful ray tracing cores, so we can use more rays per pixel. Hoping RTX 4000 series will improve ray tracing performance and clarity by a large margin.

As much as I love raytracing and as much as I look forward to the day that the majority of games are raytraced, this "firefly" problem sucks. I want a stable image almost just as much as I want raytracing, which is hard to achieve since raytracing is still so expensive. It is entirely possible to fix that emmisive lighting firefly problem at night, but at least one method I know of would cost performance (adding more rays, which is exactly what you do when you go to higher DLSS or FSR modes). The problem doesn't stop there. Unfortunately, current raytracing implementations use temperal information over multiple frames for things like global illumination. So, for example, the flashlight from Metro Exodus leaves patches of light for a few seconds even if it is turned completely off. It's very annoying. But god, does raytracing look great. I'm eager for the day that these artifacts in raytraced rendering cease to be a problem, but I wonder when that'll come and just how powerful hardware will be at that time

Also emissive illumination disappears the moment you look at light casting object, weird implementation.

Yeah, it is a shame because the game looks amazing otherwise. I did notice that DLSS makes it worse compared to FSR or Linear Upscaling. Hopefully they improve their denoiser in a patch.

Ray Tracing Revolution
If you have noticed artifacts and shimmering in low light conditions with ray tracing in DL2, its because of the emissive lights. They are tolerable in the first game area as there are few of them, but in the city they are everywhere. Wish I could turn them off.

Native resolution or a higher quality upscaling setting with FSR and DLSS reduces the artifacts, but they don't go away completely.
