Something that always drives me crazy about the comments sections on these video is like. When you're an artist and you're asking how you can improve your art, being met with "i like it already :))" is deeply unhelpful and frustrating. Anyways, great work as always Jackie!

If the original artist where not interested in critique and if they're drawing just for the fun of the process and technical improvement isn't their main goal, then maybe just maybe they wouldn't be submitting their art for a professional to critique???? The original artist is not stupid, if they submitted their art they know it's important to have fun but they want to do it while improving. So I really don't see the point on some of the arguments in the comments... Btw I love the critiques and seeing how little it took to really take the piece to an interesting professional looking design then the of artist has lots of potential and their efforts are showing, so they should take the advices and keep improving!

Unlike the majority of people here, I think the improvement is spot on. He also doesn't look different. The features are the same, just proportionally more correct, same for the angle of the head. Maybe the face is slightly less long, but it's not a dramatically different person

There's something about the smile that's gone from the 'fix' - ofc it looks more technically competent overall but the shape of the smile is more like.. unique, captures that like idk British rockstar smile that's so specific but you know. Mostly commenting this so the original artist knows they've actually done quite well on capturing unique shapes that you don't often see from people who get too used to using the same shapes for everything :)

tbh i agree w the comments about some of these changes not working. i have an art degree so believe me i understand the value of critique, but i think when fixing things you also have to account for style. i dont think the mouth or eyes needed to be changed much. the teeth could use a little work and the head proportions are a little off, but i dont think it needed to be made that much smaller. the original neck throws me off, and the line between the hand and arm being removed was an improvement. the clothes are nicer too. i think keeping the rest mostly the same with small anatomy adjustments and maybe a couple more shadows wouldve been a little better. thats just my opinion ofc!! and i havent watched the video yet so idk if im missing context

Yes! You improved it while still being true to the original artist's style! Thank you for that!

- Exagerrated (and therefore, clearer) shapes of the outfit are welcome, as well as changes to the balance of big and small details. - I can think of no good reason to completely remove the eyelid creases. And the smile is straight-up a downgrade, the corners of the mouth are not supposed to go this far up. (Unless, of course, the artist was going for an unnerving fake smile.) - Excellent job on the hair, both the shapes and the shading. And a lighter spot behind it that separates the silhouette from the background is the single most effective and needed change here.

I like the small adjustments that you made to the face. The thing that is sticking out to me is the bold black lines. But that could just be a time thing, Or to define the points where you made edits.

i feel like some of the changes are technically correct but they lose some of the charm the original has going for it

Honestly, I don't think you did a good job with this one. It looks like a completely different person in the fix. The expression difference between the two also makes the character give off a wildly different feeling between the two drawings, which I doubt was the point here. It doesn't really feel like you fixed anything, just replaced it with something else, if that makes sense.

I wish some of the line thickness on the clothing was thinner

first time I prefer the original tbh! it feels like it had more characterization, but that’s just my opinion we all got one

A lot of the technical aspects on the new one are awesome, but you kinda lost the soul of the character. Like it’s good but also a totally different person.. The eyes, mouth, and even head shape give that character so much personality. I feel like you could play off those a bit more to kinda still honor the original:p

I feel like the art style of the original was lost in translation :(

I feel like the characterization of the long face was good, and you kina shorten it, but other wise yes much better

In my personal opinion, there’s no”fixing art” your art is yours! It’s not something to be fixed :] Edit: Yeah I was a bit uninformed and I agree with your points.
