Drop some q’s!

Putting together another podcast with my man Eric Seifert we had a really good chat last time around. I really wanna use the episode to answer yalls technical training questions so let me hear them!

All questions and topic suggestions welcome but we’re definitely looking for the more intermediate- advanced subject matter. Take advantage of 50 years of training experience between the two of us!

Hey Johnathan, big fan of the content. The cues and techniques lately have been really useful. I would love for you to go more in depth on leg workout cues and techniques specifically for squats, rdl, lunge, and leg press

Would love to know squat/press queues to specifically target the sweep. Feels like no matter how strong I get with squats (e.g., repping four plates), my outer legs don’t look any different. Your chest pressing queue was a game changer for me. Hoping you can do the same for the legs.

Hey Jon looks like you have plenty of questions but I thought id throw in another. I'd like to know Eric's perspective on programming Robin seems to train relatively low volume but with very good eccentric and concentric control of every single rep.

What advice or cues would you use for someone who has a hard time not reverting to typical compensations during hard working sets especially towards the end? Specifically right anterior and left posterior ribcage compression. I will do mobility work before the session and each set but always seem to revert as soon as the set starts to get hard. Sorry if it isn't a super high level question but it's my main problem at this point and thanks in advance.

Some “quick” warmups moves or breathing drills for the stereotypical bodybuilder issues (hip mobility/shoulder/posterior expansion etc). Then thoughts and practical examples of exercise order in sessions to possible help these issues.

Not a super advanced question but some advice regarding how to best set up and execute the pec deck machine would be nice

I've got nothing useful to contribute other than to say hell yeah!

What are your thoughts on the belt squat/pit shark machine? Any tips for optimal technique?

This is probably more appropriate for a general q&a but will drop it here. Any advice for the following symptoms - consistent tension around the left shoulder girdle including the neck, lat, terres and tricep for the last 18 months following a tweak on a pike press up. The tension will move around but will be a pretty consistent sensation nearly 24 hours a day. My left shoulder now clicks and pops when externally rotating horizontally but not vertically. Left side delt can be painful in pressing, all overheard movements can be aggravating but not all the time, I right bending movements where my left side is expanding more difficult and have experienced significant doms in the serratus on that side, and I’ve started to get minor discomfort in the left elbow. I’ve adjusted my chest pressing and pulling technique which has definitely helped, but the problem continues to linger. Again, potentially not the best place to leave this question, but thought it worth asking two incredibly knowledgeable guys. Love the content Jonathan!

What are your favourite movements for each body part?

My question is how would someone go about growing their spinal erectors without needing to use a bunch of warmups sets to work up to heavy deadlifts/rdls. What would be a more time efficient way to train the erectors without using as much weight?(maybe the solution is to turn everything into an erector movement like Dr. Mike😂😂). Thank you so much for the amazing conte

Hey Jonathan. I’m new to the channel so you might have answered my question in a previous video but could you explain split squat and hinge biomechanics? No matter what I do, I feel nothing but my glutes in both movements and would like to know how to target quads and hammies better.

Hey Jonathan thanks for having Erick back and hope he'll become a regular. How would Eric fix left upper trapezius being higher visibly and more prominent than the right one ? Is there a connection with having poor right glenohumeral IR at the same time. And how is he fixing muscle imbalances in general? Thank you!

@amitsklan8409

Thank you for the amazing content! When I do any vertical or horizontal pull for the lats I get a great connection with my left lat and have a really hard time connecting to my right lat and it shows in my physique (left lat bigger and grows faster), I noticed that my left shoulder stays higher than my right on those exercises (doesn't depress as much as the right one) do you have any tips to fix this imbalance? (Also right chest is bigger and easier to connect to than the left one, bigger left trap, bigger left tricep as well but its most noticeable in the lats) keep up the videos man It's transforming my training

Hey Jonathan, would like to hear more on white tissue/joint capsule work and differences between FRC and MAT. Are they complementary views? Or more the same concept with a different lens?

Hey Jonathan. Your chest queue changed the game, now I look like I actually have pecs. What’s your go to queue for leg extensions and also belt squats to be more quad dominant? I’m on the hunt to get massive legs.

@ericschreiber1437

1. He cues external [correction: and internal] rotation on adductor machine. Would he recommend working asymmetrically with one hip internally rotated and the other on external rotated to counteract AIC pattern on abductor and adductor machines? (e.g. pushing slightly more via knees vs. foot and adjusting angle of foot). 2. Why is he always so chill? Like beyond personality, why does it feel like he's trying to soothe people while he's coaching them?

Would love some more insight as to why Eric cues IR for the RDL and for the Squat. I love the “spread the cheeks” cue but I’d like to know why does it work biomechanic wise. I can absolutely feel my hammys more on RDLs when I spread my cheeks lol
