temsikdoos

update - please check my last post on this matter ! things have changed

alright guys - here to say something on a bit of a serious note !!
as i'm sure a lot of you have as well, ive been following the things coming out about skizzleman recently on twitter, and want to just make it clear where i stand on the situation as of right now. i have really been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt until last night, when i saw a clip from impulse and his podcast's behind the scenes stream. it was saddening to watch. now, do i think he's inherently bad and trying to cause harm to people? no. but do i believe that his actions and wording could end up causing a lot of harm to people in the community who are just trying to enjoy some minecraft videos? very much so. it may seem strange that i'm talking about this with just a small account, but i want to make it clear that this is a safe place for anyone and everyone who isn't causing others harm, no matter who you are. i am friends with so many people who have been directly affected by this, so while i may not be part of the group this regards, i care deeply about them.
as of now, skizz will be in my last out of context video and finale, but if nothing is changed or said by the time the next life series rolls around, i will most likely not include his perspective in any more videos. hermitcraft, or life series wise. i hope you can all understand this !

much love, kismet, temsikdoos <3

@purple_gamer7002

All of the comments on this post are pissing me off, you are so real for this. So many people don't seem to understand that silence is compliance, and getting someone who says they're making a safe space say they think the fact you exist is political hurts, and that so called apology is on a vod and not his main channel either. Not to mention his mods being bigots as well. Then there was the makeup thing that he HAS apologized for about a day after people started talking about it, and yet it's been two months since the first thing and he hasn't addressed it PROPERLY. Putting an apology in a comment on a vod that isn't even on his main channel is not good enough. He is also a cis white man, so he's privileged enough to think everybody has it as easy as him. Someone simply trying and hoping to hear support from their favorite content creator only to be called political for existing hurts, and the silence only makes it worse. There is a Twitter account called Skizz Archive, and you can see everything that's happened since this started there if you need proof. But if you actually just don't care to do the research, I don't think you should be participating in this conversation. Tem, I'm very glad you mentioned this on YouTube, and your stance on this situation is Tem outta Tem!

The really rough part of this, is knowing Skizz he probably will apologize for possibly offending anyone. That’s just who he is. Even though he has NOTHING to apologize for. Also, if Zombie Cleo isn’t offended and any other hermit/minecraft YouTuber isn’t offended then I think you should drop it. There is no issue, if there was an actual bigoted issue he would have been let go from hermitcraft.

@JayKBishop

I’m going to need context. I have only been able to find things about the trans rights donation issue which I do think he was wrong on, but he has since clarified and apologies for. I know it’s something more recent and respectfully wish to know more. If it’s something very private then I say this post shouldn’t be up it is only going to allow for those who want controversy to be able to stoke flames that shouldn’t be there to begin with. Otherwise context is important. The way you have situated this is so vague that anything could have happened. The wording here is so vague that he could have ‘just’ given an off handed comment that wasn’t right or he could have committed a crime. And being vague about it is helping no one. You keep saying in the comments you don’t want to word it wrong which I respect completely. But for this small slice of the community you have opened a can a worms. At the least you should clarify the severity of whatever has happened whether it be poorly timed joke or criminal or in-between. Farther words such as ‘allegedly”, “apparently” and “supposedly” are made for situations like these. If there are videos or posts from the people involved please make a post with those receipts. You can quote the people involved that way it isn’t your words, but theirs My point here is this post can only make things worse whatever is happening. Either it’s a relatively minor situation that now without any explanation people will jump to extreme conclusions. Or it’s a significant issue and without showing the receipts you risk minimizing the situation or allowing others to make you seem like the bad person by “trying to stir up trouble” or some nonsense. I respect people’s privacy and if you do not want to say anything more I respect that. You just need to realize the potential harm this post might be doing. Take all this with a grain of salt as it is coming from someone who knows nothing about the situation and can’t find anything about it.

After using this whole reply section as my only source of information on this topic as it’s the first time I’ve hear of it, having gathered as much information as I can, I genuinely don’t see what anyone could possibly be offended by. I don’t see anything that Skizz has said or done wrong. I don’t want explanations of what happened - I’ve read enough of that here - I want to know exactly why people are upset about any of this, because I genuinely don’t see what’s wrong?

@CyberAceSorrel

So wait everyone's up in arms because... they wouldn't ask Cleo about using she/they? Ever think that Cleo didn't want that question asked? Or that, as friends/co-workers/groupmates the question has been asked already between them? And that maybe Cleo... doesn't want the question asked for the podcast? ZombieCleo is entitled to privacy just like everyone else is. Regardless of the Imp and Skizz response, no one has a right to ask anything about why someone uses the pronouns they do. No one is required to ask Cleo that question and Cleo 100% sure isn't required to answer it! Is the fandom seriously this slow with new content that they have to attack allies for... refusing a question? If Impulse and Skizz both didn't support LGBTQIA+ NEITHER OF THEM would be on Hermitcraft OR the Life Series. I highly doubt Cleo would be comfortable around them, or Gem, who spends even more time with both of them. Everyone who started this really needs to go get a hobby. Or a life, preferably one of their own and not someone else's!

@kcr2002

I'm assuming this is about the Cleo pre-interview stuff? Lotta people are being weird and dismissive but it's YouTube comments so like, not surprising. I think it's entirely valid if you, as a fan creator, don't want to include content from a particular creator anymore. For any reason. Fucking weird for people to suggest it's an "unhealthy relationship with twitter" or whatever because you don't wanna include a specific creator because they've said stuff you don't approve of and don't consider yourself a fan of them anymore. Tldr: do what you wanna do, it's your fan content.

@olicatthethird741

?? What's happening?? I assure you, basically everyone here doesn't use twitter/doesn't know about whatever is going on. Please don't give vague statements without the needed context Edit: After some scouring, I can safely say that this stance is nonsense. The context is that during a rough stream of his, a dono asked him to say trans rights out loud but he respectfully declined. Later in the comments he clarified that he is still firmly pro-trans and does not tolerate hate, but as a stubborn little gremlin he doesn't like words being forced into his mouth, especially in an already rough situation, and he prefers not to touch on "polarizing" topics directly on stream. Since he clarified that he was fully pro-trans, I have no idea why this is still an issue, not to mention it was two months ago.

There have been more things? Where can I find the clip?

@MyPookieWookieVerVermillion

he has repeatedly said he is pro trans rights and said he just refused to say the super chat because he likes being stubborn also it’s a bit late this is 2 months old and his stance is clear

What happened, may I ask? I haven’t heard anything about this

@cilioakenshield7126

I would really appreciate as a trans person if you could at least tell folks where you've found the new stuff about him. I can't get on to X/twitter at all, and haven't found anything about this on reddit or YouTube either. I am only just learning of what happened 2 months ago though, so I appreciate folks who've directed to sources on that.

@HereForThePunch01

Obviously do whatever feels right for you! HOWEVER, I do have a genuine question: What sort of standards are we supposed to hold content creators to? Because yeah, the implication that anyone's existence is a "sensitive issue" or "political topic" is really shitty, we are literally just out here trying to exist. BUT. This reads more as ignorance to me on Skizz's part more than actual malicious intent. Like, I'm kinda not at all surprised by how he worded things, even if it did make me flinch a bit, because iirc Skizz's job before he quit to go full time content creation was... a management position. A pretty high up one, I think? And the way he refuses to touch certain topics reads very much as "he's still in that corporate mindset" to me, lol. That being said, again, obviously if anyone is hurt by Skizz's words or behavior by all means do whatever you can to protect yourself and your own peace. But I personally don't find it off-putting enough at this point in time to stop watching or supporting him, or for that matter, to encourage anyone else to stop either. Because you know who makes me flinch a heck of a lot more than Skizz does? Grian. Grian is constantly quoting Harry Potter stuff. And if you know anything about Harry Potter, you know that JK Rowling is not only a massive transphobe, but is actively and maliciously doing harm to the trans community. My personal opinion is that everyone with any sort of love for trans folks in their hearts should avoid associating in any way with the Harry Potter franchise, either the books or the movies or the new shit they've been putting out. But I also recognize how MASSIVE a franchise HP is, and how absolutely unrealistic the expectation is that literally everybody drop everything HP-related, or stop quoting it, or whatever. So while I seriously, seriously dislike how often Grian quotes HP, I have made the active decision to continue to watch/support him regardless! Which leads me back to my question: What sort of standards are we supposed to hold content creators to? Because no one is perfect, obviously! And I think Skizz is an incredibly well-meaning sort of person. But at the same time it /is/ pretty suspicious that he won't just say a handful of words, words that, if he truly understood them, he would realize weren't a big deal at all to say, lol. But BUT I think that this would be a great opportunity, then, for him to learn! But but BUT I also think that upset (no matter how rightfully so!) YouTube/Twitter comments are maybe not the best sources for anyone to learn anything from. So like. I'm at the stage where I think I will just wait and see, and try to stay positive in the meantime. I can definitely see why some people would be hurt by this, and choose to no longer support him. But at the same time, I also find myself kind of annoyed that this seems to be an issue whereas stuff that seems just as bad if not worse (in my opinion!!) done by others is just....... ignored. (Maybe that stuff /isn't/ ignored, and I just don't follow enough/the right people, lol!) All this to say... I hope Skizz does at some point apologize/clarify things like Impy did! And maybe I'm strange for it, but I don't really mind how long that takes. But at the same time... I'm also not going to be upset if he doesn't ever address it, because he might be in the process of still learning, or he might consider an apology similar to Impy's to be redundant, or whatever. Because at the end of the day anytime somebody says "TRANS RIGHTS!!!!" I'm like hell yeah babey!!!! But ALSO at the end of the day if somebody says "I don't wanna say that" but then they go on to support trans rights regardless by donating to trans causes or boycotting harmful franchises or protecting their trans friends IRL, then I'm STILL like hell yeah babey!!!! Hopefully Skizz is just as supportive behind the scenes as he claims to be! I, personally, am still willing to believe he is!

So is mumbo actually gonna replace him till the end of the season? Ps. What has come out, I don't have/ want to install twitter so I don't know anything about it

@zakimira69

this happened months ago and he literally said he supports trans rights after the fact multiple times. why bring this up now?

2 months ago | 12

@ToibiDoesStuff

You guys hang around twitter too much, this is just blowing a tiny thing out of proportion like twitter always does. I get that you’re concerned but seriously? This doesn’t even do anything harmful, it’s not like he’s JK Rowling.

2 months ago | 10

@Flobibibi

Can you please explain these other red flags? you keep mentioning them in replies but never actually say what they are, I’m not talking about the Cleo interview or the dono, you’ve explained them in the comments enough. I’m not trying to be disrespectful but it feels like your being incredibly vague and adding things in without giving proper thought
