Google Hong Kong

Today, over 92% of our human reviews for harmful apps are AI-assisted - that’s how we can take quicker and more accurate action to help prevent them from becoming available on Google Play. But protection doesn't stop there.

🌍 Globally, #GooglePlayProtect automatically scans every app, in real-time at the code-level, on Android devices with Google Play Services, no matter the download source and its level of security to combat emerging and hidden threats. 🔍

🇭🇰 In Hong Kong, with rising financial fraud 🚨, we started testing Google Play Protect’s enhanced fraud protection pilot late last year. It analyzes and automatically blocks the installation of apps that may use sensitive permissions, frequently abused for financial fraud, when the user attempts to install the app from an Internet-sideloading source (web browsers, messaging apps, or file managers).

Less than a month since fully launching, it has shielded 77,000 devices from 260,000 risky installation attempts, encompassing over 10,000 unique apps locally! 🛡️

While we’ve seen great early results, it's more effective when combined with human awareness. Get refreshed on tips for spotting scams below and at #HSBCFraudUniversity this #SaferInternetDay.
