He uses the Bio-FX media and foams from Amazon.com for the upgrade and the Bio-FX media is a great choice for supporting lots of beneficial aerobic media - if you're not concerned about nitrate reduction it is a great alternative to Biohome since it has lots of available surface area and a very open structure for aerobic bacteria to colonize. (If you want to achieve a full cycle use the Biohome Ultimate but there are many other choices out there depending on what you are seeking to achieve from filtration). The foams he uses are a decent grade too and he has a link to them in the video description for viewers in the US who have difficulty obtaining bumpy foams. It's a well made video and very well explained.
