The 80gbps USB4v2 ports got me instantly. No proprietary port for eGPU support without any performance loss. Whaaat

I know I won’t be able to afford this thing, but really looking forward to seeing more about it. I see it more as a competitor to something like a Mac Studio than a NAS, but the truth is it can probably handle just about anything you’d want to throw at a system like this.

Will it also fit in a 10" rack, if so I'm all in for it. Super happy with my MS-A1 as a homeserver already

Still prefere the MS-01, just because of the fantastic networkability ... and because i have 2 of them😊

How about starting giveaways for all these wonderful products you review? It could be a fun way to share the love!

Have had my eye on this unit ever since it was announced so looking forward to your review! Minisforum in their announcement had indicated that the unit was rackmount ready and designed with clustering in mind. If you have any more information about this, it would be great if you could include that as part of your review. Cheers!

I wish these mini’s came with an external SAS or SATA port for an external JBOD. Not that anyone makes them other than for enterprise. If you could connect an external non-usb JBOD for your storage needs, you’d have one heck of a system. Instead you are left with USB and at best hardware controlled RAID.

I wish they would make this same thing but just a little thicker to accommodate a 2 slot GPU such as rtx 4000 sff.

I'm interested in the rackmountability (2U). Also the performance comparison with framework will be interesting since they put a lot of thought in the RAM placement. For a server idle power consumption, WOL an Linux support is interesting. Any Ideas for the PCIe-Slot?

What a beast! Looking forward to your in-depth review, as usual. But how can I convert it into a NAS solution? Any DAS enclosure with USB 4 v2 or v1? Thanks for sharing!

I love the look of this machine plus it’s cool the PSU appears to be integrated. Sick of having all these power adapters.

I am rarely surprised. But look what just arrived out of the blue at the office... the @minisforumofficial MS-S1 Max. Though the term "mini pc" is getting something of a bad back on this one from the strain, the S1 Max is the most beastly example of what Minisforum have been evolving on these last few years. Never thought I would call the MS-01 underpowered...but... this thing arrives with a beast AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 16 Core + 32 Thread CPU, 40 graphical cores at 2.9Ghz in the Radeon 8060S, Dual 10GbE (Copper!), 128GB RAM (ECC support still TBC, but I think 'Yes' on this processor), 80Gbps USB4, a frankly insane INTERNAL 320W PSU, WiFi 7 and a couple of Gen4 M.2 NVMe slots (because why the hell not?!)...
All this and at just twice the volume of the MS-01 and MS-A2, but the MS-S1 Max seemingly scales up almost everything we have seen yet ... JUST WHAT THE HELL AM I LOOKING AT HERE? Oh and this is not a sponsored post. They sent the kit, but the review is all mine and no money changed hands. So, will this thing flourish and change the game, or will it cook eggs and suck the national grid dry?! Review soon. #howdohastagswork #minisforum
