I've been eyeing one of these for working with broken ceramics from beachcombing etc. I think a lot of the questions folks have asked about safety etc will be of interest to me. It would be really good to know some reliable models and manufacturers from around the world as a lot of the stuff I've found that's affordable is on amazon sometimes similar on temu etc. and I'm not sure if the brands are trustworthy or safe. Given that this combines water and electricity, its more of a concern for me then other purchases

Do you have any brand recommendations? Or what should we look out for when shopping for a grinder(good and bad)?

Grinder sounds: Sometimes the grinder does different sounds while working, what different sounds could mean? (I'm always afraid that there is too much dust accumulated or that might need some oiling that I am unaware of)

Does it help to use a toothbrush on the bit as part of regular cleaning and is there something else that would be better than a toothbrush if that is helpful? I was thinking it might be like sandpaper where some of the little bits get stuck in the grit, if that makes sense? So I’ve been using a toothbrush with water on it when i clean it but maybe that is overkill :) thanks!!

Have you ever used your grinder to make holes in the glass? I've seen it but don't dare, don't understand how.

While grinding: sliding up the piece of glass to the dry part of the grinder to speed up chunky parts: yes or not? I did it my first time grinding, and a piece of shard jumped to my eye, so now I always wear glasses while grinding, and don't dare, but still feel tempted to do it because feels efficient for tiny little bits.
