Where I live you only have to be 50 to attend the senior center. I noticed the same classes are cheaper for seniors than the same classes at Park & Rec. When I signed up they would check my ID and call me "the baby" which I adored. When I walked by the Pool Hall the older guys would whistle. It's where I go if I'm feeling old and fat and want to flirted with 😝 Every Sr Ctr has it's age requirements. Ours also has free Insurance guidance, Wills, Trusts, CPA and social worker counseling. Sometimes they hold professional seminars for $5. Amazing Sr benefits ♥

Prepper Princess, you'll be a senior before you know it. Just hang around long enough, and in a blink of an eye, you'll be there!!! 👍👍

Here in Italy, I can eat twice a day for free, full meals with take-home treats, at numerous public cafeterias.

Back in 2020, I would meet my mom and Grandma for fish fry or another $6 meals. It was one of my fondest memories with my late grandma ❤️

I’ve never heard of such a thing, but I love that this is available in your area! Such a cool concept.

I just paid $33 for an omelette and coffee at a NYC diner!!! That would have cost under $20 a few years ago. Diners used to be an affordable option, but not anymore. I noticed that the nearby grocery store has a good deli counter and to-go options and a big seating area. I will try that instead, can maybe get a small entree and fruit salad for $10-15 if I'm clever.

Yes! This is accurate. I work with low income seniors. We have a great senior center nearby that is absolutely beautiful and inviting. Many activities, workshops, and speakers. In addition, the lunch is prepared M-F by a trained chef and costs $3 per plate. They have a monthly newsletter with a menu so the seniors have access to it ahead of time.

My husband and I were just talking about going to our community senior center for lunch. We enjoy going out for lunch but fast food is expensive food! Our SC charges $8/person which includes a balanced meal, drink and dessert.

I'm 70 plus. Go to senior center a couple of times a month it's 3.00 for a real nice meal, sometimes I bring part of it home and add a small salad or baked potato and that's my dinner. They also have free exercise classes and other activities.

Our town has sponsors to cover much of the senior lunch program Monday thru Friday.. food is nutritious, but the socialization time and friendly volunteer servers are priceless!

We're thinking of "adopting" a senior... someone who is all alone needs regular visitors. That way they have someone to hang with on ice cream day.

I found your channel last year when my electricity was outrageous and some of your ideas were helpful in realigning my mind and thinking about money. Thanks for that.

A lady in town mentioned the local hospital has really good food in the cafeteria. It's only $5 for a full meal. I keep meaning to go check it out. Sounds like a deal to me.

Yes, Senior Centers are wonderful! My Dad & I like to play Bingo-so, we go twice a week & they have lunch with a suggested donation. I'm not technically a "senior" yet, but if you can find a good one, they are great. This one is in the next state from us & only 15 minutes away. I donate a lot of things, also.(Extreme Couponer here, lol) Hope everyone reading this has access to a good Senior Center in your area! Socialization is important for seniors. The worst thing for the elderly is to be isolated.

I used to go with workmates on the 1st Wednesday of every month to a church just down the street for "Hot Dog Day" for one dollar or more donations. You got a fully dressed hot dog, chips, drinks, and dessert. Made by various church members. This was to bring people together in the community for fellowship. But sadly, Covid put a stop to it. I heard they are going to start it again, though.

Restaurants aren’t the only place to eat-out. I May not be a senior (yet, but praying I live long enough) but I have been known to stop by the senior citizens center a time or two on their Ice Cream Sundae days for $3 or on Tamale and Enchilada night for $8. No tipping necessary, it’s super low cost and the money goes to keeping the place running for free socialization And crafts for our senior citizens. And just so you know, they LOVE IT when little kids and families show up and romp all over the place. Just something frugal to think about…
