We came for @BlackTravelSummit , which was my first panel and my first international speaking opportunity. I sat alongside incredible creators (@lilmsawkward@eileen_ivette@pretoviajante915 ) talking about ethical storytelling and the responsibility we have when sharing people’s stories and cultures.
Then ChewsToExplore was honored as the 2025 Creator of the Year. We’re still processing that.
The recognition means a lot. It’s humbling, motivating, and a reminder to keep showing up, keep creating with intention, and keep representing our community in this space.
We’re grateful for this community and for platforms like Black Travel Summit that uplift Black travelers, storytellers, and industry voices. Being surrounded by people doing real work in this space pushed us in a way we did not expect.
We created ChewsToExplore because we did not see ourselves represented in the travel spaces we were occupying.
Travel is not a monolith.
This started as a way to look back on our experiences and memories, but it has transformed into something bigger. We’ve been able to inspire people around the world, and to be recognized by our own community is something we do not take lightly.
Seeing how our platform has grown beyond numbers and accolades means everything. From people around the world telling us they love seeing their homeland through our eyes, to strangers stopping us at grocery stores and malls, to being recognized abroad by travelers who follow our journey. Sharing our experiences and seeing how they resonate with you all is what keeps us motivated to continue creating.
Black Travel Summit is an annual conference focused on Black travelers, creators, and industry professionals. It is filled with panels, workshops, real conversations, and community. We are SO glad we were part of it and already looking forward to next year in Milwaukee!
