Ok, so I know this may sound like I'm getting ahead of myself, but...

I was planning out my next ranking video after I finish the DreamWorks Movies and Clone Wars Episode Rankings. But I've run into an issue with whether this movie "Pete's Dragon 2016 remake" counts as a "Live Action Animation Hybrid Film", a "Disney Live Action Remake", both at the same time, or neither.

So I have come to get the professional opinions of you Iconic Individuals.

@MagicalCycero

I think you could count the Pete’s Dragon remake as an animated/live action hybrid, but you would also have to count like 90% of other remakes as hybrids too (Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Aladdin, Pinocchio, basically every one that ISN’T the Lion King). At that point, what would be the point in making a live action remake video? On the other hand, the original Pete’s Dragon had a lot of live-action in it, so is it really a “live action remake” or would it be more correct to call it a “CGI remake?”

@Mordread3234

If I understood the question correctly, then I’d say both.

To this day, I still think the 2015 Pinocchio remake is the best Disney live-action remake by a longshot. They took the concept of Pinocchio and reimagined it in an... interesting manner. And if any of you are about to get on my case for defending a piece of trash... I'm referring to Avengers: Age of Ultron. It is a Pinocchio remake and I will die on this hill.

🧐 I think we can all agree that the absolute best Live Action/Animation hybrid movie is Who Framed Roger Rabbit! Followed closely by the original Space Jam

@wattsink2009

For your Live Action/Animation list, I would recommend a few stipulations: 1 - Only Hand-Drawn Animation, No CGI. Otherwise, you would have to factor in practically every movie since the turn of the millennium! So, no Smurfs, no Garfield, no Rescue Rangers, no Tom and Jerry, and (sadly) no Rocky and Bullwinkle. 2 - They can’t just be movies with animation and live action in them, the two mediums have to interact for at least two full minutes of screen time. So no Pagemaster, no Fat Albert, no Space Jam; A New Legacy, no Zanadu, and no Disney’s Enchanted. If you do some digging, there are still plenty of movies to at least make a top 5 list: Who Framed Roger Rabbit Space Jam Looney Tunes; Back in Action Rock-A-Doodle Cool World Pete’s Dragon Bedknobs And Broomsticks Mary Poppins Song Of The South The Incredible Mr Limpet The Three Caballeros Fun And Fancy Free

@hwoarangthedoorbell

I think this depends on how you’re defining LA/A Hybrid. If we’re saying that one character being done in somewhat realistic CG should count for a hybrid, then that opens up a lot of other films being considered hybrids as well: Paddington, Game of Thrones, Transformers, most MCU films, most Star Wars movies, etc. To me, I’d reserve the LA/A hybrid distinction for movies like Space Jam, Roger Rabbit, Mary Poppins, and Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers (2022), where there’s clear intent to contrast animated characters with live action. But that’s just me, it depends on how you define “LA/A hybrid.”

@wattsink2009

Controversial opinion, but I would rank Mary Poppins as the second-worst Live Action/Animation hybrid movie. 😅 I love the movie itself like everyone does, and I know it was made in the 60’s. But keep in mind, by then we already had Song Of The South, Three Caballeros, Fun And Fancy Free, The Incredible Mr Limpet, and several shorts that did it better in the 40’s and 50’s

I think we can all agree that the absolute worst Live Action/Animation hybrid movie is Cool World! 🧐 Keep in mind, that movie came out in 1992. Three years after Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and the same year as Rock-A-Doodle

@fanofyoshi2238

Kinda off-topic, but i kinda want to make an OC inspired by your character (you know, with the purple fedora). Or at least make Fanart of you someday. I don't know where to say this, i just thought i'd post this here.

These live action reviews are good. Now if you love doing villain reviews, then do one on both Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. The title should be called Sunset and Starlight: Forced Redemptions Done Right!

@odil7583

If Disney Lion King 2019 counts as live action then so does this

@Yt-Talks-y1p

Hey just an option have you tried talking about Indie Animation like Murder Drones and Amazing Digital Circus just to spice up your content.

How about ‘Why Thor: Ragnarok is the most atrocious superhero movie ever made’!

@thieviuspopstar1077

I am also waiting for you to do another cartoon villain review like a My Little Pony: Friendship Villain review on Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer! Or one on Phineas and Ferb where you finally review Dr. Doofenshmirtz as seen on some of your previous reviews of those clips of him!

I wouldn't say Pete's Dragon was a CG/LV hybrid, because it has the same kind of CG as Disney's other remakes (not counting Mary Poppins Returns)

@TheAnimationConnoisseur

I would say the first option is most applicable here. .... By the way Rockotar, this is completely random but I was wondering... what is your opinion on Pixar's Cars? I personally believe that the first Cars film is an absolutely impeccable masterpiece, and the best film ever made, (I even made a whole video essay on my channel talking about why I believe that; don't know if you'd be interested in watching that, but it's there) while the second one isn't as bad as many people claim, but just 'ok' and the third is my least favorite of the Trilogy because of how badly it underutilizes the core cast of the original film and uses McQueen as a stepping stone to prop up a less interesting, poorly-written new racer in the form of Cruz. But, what do you think about them?

@Jintyisheretoday

Pete’s dragon is a very forgotten Disney movie and it’s not technically a wdas film so I wouldn’t call it a live action remake.
