Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) said: “People often associate showing off (riyā’) and conceit (‘ujb) together. Showing off stems from associating partners with creation, while conceit stems from associating partners with oneself — and this is the state of the arrogant. The one who shows off does not truly fulfill Allah’s saying: ‘You alone we worship’ (Al-Fātiḥah: 5), and the conceited person does not truly fulfill His saying: ‘And You alone we ask for help.’ So whoever actualizes ‘You alone we worship’ is freed from showing off, and whoever actualizes ‘And You alone we ask for help’ is freed from conceit.” 📚 [Majmū‘ al-Fatāwā, vol. 10, p. 277] t.me/treasuresofknowledge2

Cure for showing off and conceit
