Disventure Camp 4: Carnival of Chaos – Advice for the Remaining 4 . . . Again
by PintheDog

The twenty-third episode of Disventure Camp 4: Carnival of Chaos was a nice cooldown episode. Rather than see another round of competition from the final four, we instead got to have the standard hotel episode and visit the fourteen voted-out campers to see how they were doing. And even out of the game, the drama was still aplenty among Alessio, Amelie, Ted, Diego, Tristan, Marissa, Lynda, Ivy, Benji, Richard, Natalia, Spencer, Zaid, and Isabel.

Among the events shown were that Lynda had finally gotten to claim the leader-ship position that she’d wanted, teaching a water aerobics class and having Bingo nights with the campers. We also saw that despite clearing the air, Diego still carried a torch for Spencer. Alessio made an interesting talk-to for Ivy even despite saying nothing to her, but just intimidating her with his very look. Zaid is still rightly bitter over getting voted out Logan’s lie, but doesn’t want to feel that anymore (despite having the right to). Ted was annoyed that nobody was willing to play poker with him, though he finally got the chance to do so at the very end of the episode. Isabel is overzealously championing Jade for the win, annoying the hell out of the jurors. And Benji finally made up with Zaid for betraying Ivy, and got his and Ivy’s forgiveness. But possibly the happiest moment was that Tristan, who’d learned from Emily that their parents had cruelly kicked them out of their home after exposing their nastiness toward them on interna-tional television, was going to get a new place to live when Ivy proposed moving to L.A. so that he could move in with her! Oh, and Benji was officially welcomed into the Vibe Tribe with Tristan, Zaid, and Ivy, tying things up with a bow.

The most interesting thing that happened, though, was what happened late in the episode — a roundtable for the jury members that was moderated by Ivy, the final camper voted out before the merge. To remind you, the only members of the jury are those who were voted from the start of the merge and on, which meant that only Benji, Richard, Natalia, Spencer, Marissa, Zaid, Amelie, and Isabel will be voting out this season’s third-place-finisher. Knowing this, all of them discussed the final four campers to decide who among them had played the best and worst games, and would likely be targets for their votes come the final three.

The observations given honestly were a mixed bag to me. I was impressed that the jury rightly discussed the positives and negatives to both Jade and Hannah’s games. Jade was rightly lauded for her strategic prowess and her growth in her social game, but derided for the pirate challenge and not being as sociable as the others in the final four. Hannah was applauded for learning the game as she went along and even scoring some good moves of her own, but criticized for how long she took to actually start playing. However, I was floored — and negatively so — by the complete glazing of Anastasia and Logan’s games. Yes, Anastasia’s temper was mentioned, but her paranoia-based gameplay and her poor social game were completely glossed over. And while Logan’s fair social game was discussed, as well as how late it took him to start truly playing the game for himself (not to mention Zaid rightly bringing up how he unfairly took him out, for which I wanted to slap Natalia for being totally callous about it), his constant flipping and betraying his alliances for purely emotional reasons, and when he was never even in danger, was completely skipped. He has just about no enemies on the jury other than Zaid, even though he should have at least a few more (Marissa and Amelie, for example). It really sounds like the two remaining villains of the season are getting total passes, and that frankly is not good.

After hearing the roundtable, I now have more of an idea of what the final four have to do if they end up facing the jury. But how should they address them? If they plead their cases prior to the vote, then what must they say to avoid the possibility of getting voted out by them? It’s advice for the remaining four . . . again.

Purple Team

The campers on the merged Purple Team are heading for the jury soon, and all of them should be jockeying for position in case they have to face them. Who is surprisingly the safest, and who’s the most vulnerable?

Jade: Despite the criticism that you took, I do think that you’re likely in the best possible position with the jury. Why? Because if you have to make your case to them, then I see you as making a great case to not get voted out by them. I mean, you came into this game all about strategy, and all that you have to do is sell those strategies to the jury. But try to be in front of that jury with either Hannah or Anastasia, as they’re less likely to make good cases. With Logan, if it’s true that he has few enemies, then you’ll be gone sitting next to him. I can see you having Isabel’s vote as a guaranteed one, and Zaid’s since he clearly has grudges against Hannah, Anastasia, and especially Logan. But I think that you’ll only get Spencer’s vote against Hannah and Anastasia. With the endorsement that he gave to Logan on his way out, he’ll probably vote in his favor over yours if you’re sitting next to him.

Logan: Honestly, the only reason that you’re this high is because of the near-total glazing that you got from the jury. The fact that your constant flipping was never a topic of discussion and the jury seems to consider you as having no enemies (other than Zaid) is such a disappointment. The best that I can say is that you should be the safest in front of the jury unless Jade, Hannah, or Anastasia sit next to you and make their cases better. Not much else to say unless you’re asked to explain why you started playing so late. At least explain that, and surviving might be a breeze. For sure, you have the votes of Richard, Natalia, and Spencer locked up. Probably Isabel’s, too, if you’re sitting next to Anastasia or Hannah. But you’ll have to explain your game well enough to get enough votes to survive.

Anastasia: The main thing that troubles me, like Logan, is how much of your game got glazed and glossed over. Still, you can probably survive if you apologize to the people on whom you lost your temper and explain why you played with such paranoia. Of the current jury, I really only see you having the vote of Marissa locked up. You could get Richard’s if you are against Hannah or Jade, but not against Logan. Spencer’s, too, but only against Hannah. So yeah. You have a lot of explaining and apologizing to do if you want any of the others’.

Hannah: The biggest hurdle for you with this jury is your lack of experience and game knowledge due to being a recruit. Explain how you learned to play the game as you went along and the moves you made personally, and it should be easy to win this jury over. Try to sit next to one of the other two women, though, because like with them, I can see it being the hardest for you against Logan. You have Benji and Amelie’s votes guaranteed, no matter your opponent. But how you make your case will determine who else’s votes you get. Or don’t get.

But that's just MY advice. Have any of your own? Let me know in the comments below!
