The data shows that married parents in the UK are generally wealthier, better educated, healthier, etc than non married parents. One way of interpreting this is to suggest that marriage leads to those outcomes. But in my latest video, I suggest that this is largely because people who marry are more likely to already be wealthy, highly educated, etc. And over time, while the proportion of middle income parents who marry has dropped dramatically, the vast majority of wealthy parents still marry.
