I heard a story about a k9 unit that worked with special forces, his name was Axe. He was injured by a gunshot wound to the head in a counter insurgency mission, almost died, but the squad he saved did not give up on him. Miraculously, he made a full recovery.

Both are a necessity. By choice, I would go K9 handler. But in the case of war, drone technology is a game changer.
