Like others I do it to save battery. When it can’t get signal it goes crazy looking for networks to connect to and drains battery so much faster. Older, weaker phones even heat up reducing its service life. Just go to airplane mode so it stops searching and you can still use offline and wifi.

Of course, I mean you're not gonna connect anyways so might as well save the battery.

It’s a great way to save battery life. Most of my flights are international flights and I like to have some battery left when I land .

When you glance over to your fellow passenger and see a message on his iPad - “Found new hardware Airbus Industries A380 - Restart Yes/No” is when you need to worry..

I am a pilot and I do when I fly in my own plane and commercially. I have had wifi and bluetooth mess with some avionics.

I left my phone on airplane mode for my entire vacation. It’s a great way to avoid roaming fees without switching the SIM card: put it on airplane mode and only use wi-fi.

I was an avionics tech for over twenty years and have a good grasp of how EMI affects computers, radios, and other electronic systems. That’s why I always put my electronics in airplane mode.

I used to, but I forgot to set it to airplane mode one time. There were also issues with my phone not working properly once I got off the plane after airplane mode was turned off. So that one time I forgot to turn on Airplane mode actually helped my phone keep working after each flight. So I haven't bothered with airplane mode ever since.

Yes. Airplane mode or off. Depending on the length of the flight, I usually sleep or watch a movie, and I don't want to be disturbed.

Always! It drives me crazy when people are still on their phones after the flight attendants have made the announcement.

I'm usually in airplane mode but with BT and wifi turned on. No point in trying to get a mobile connection. On some airlines the wifi is free. On others it's not - and for those latter, it's always cheaper to buy it before you board (or at least while you still have a mobile connection). To be fair, I don't use the airborne wifi much. I have books and movies on my tablet, podcasts and music on my phone. I mostly use it for AirBnB, making sure arrangements I've made for where I'm going haven't hit some kind of snag.

Yes because I follow required procedures, and I have a downloaded book to read on the phone anyway.
