You are doing great, Jeff. You and a few others inspired me to start my own homelab. Since then, I’ve built two additional NAS systems one for my parents-in-law and another for my sister’s photography company. Many more to come!

Dude, you're good. It was a blast talking to you at LTX 23 and you're just an awesome inspiration, creator and probably a bunch of things random people on the internet don't know about. I'm kinda disappointed that a post like this is somehow a necessity for because of drama between 2 channels but I really appreciate your stance of staying out of the drama itself and just setting expectations. Kudos, can't wait for the future content

Great job Jeff, I've followed your channel since your YT video about running Plex inside Proxmox, and how to configure the graphic card. Your content is great, on point, concise and delivered well. I also like the fact that you critique some classy beers. Thank you for the fantastic channel and keep delivering the great content!

before i discovered this channel i had no idea VDI was a thing. now i am working on software for having vGPU instances on a central GPU server abstract into a standardised interface to dynamically assign and reassign to VMs on my CPU compute blades through PCIe over infiniband as they request it and optimally leverage the GPUs VRAM at all times for my homelab. Loved the cloud gaming server series so much. Thank you so much, your suffering was not in vain and is greatly appreciated for it saved me and many others i would imagine both time and money. Keep up the great work.

Jeff, to me you Are the most valueable guy on YouTube. My homelab would Not have become this far, if you weren‘t around here. I‘ve got my Cloud Gaming Server with proxmox running thanks to you. I‘ve build my TrueNAS Backup-Server thanks to your videos and I am even running an Erying motherboard because of your video Review. I am always excited about every new video and especially when it is „new Server day“. And the video when you killed your Epyc Blade Server by flashing the wrong bios on it and of Most all the things you said afterwards about your Hobby Homelabing made me become a Patreon member. Thanks for sharing your opinions on hardware and your knowledge with us - your Community, and keep up your honest and good work. Enjoy the Birthday of your oldest Today and have a Nice day with your Family. PS: and I miss Rambo 🐅

Love your content Jeff! You keep the channel genuine and subscribe-worthy by posting your experiments, good or bad result included. I’ve learned so much and brought your channel to as many people as possible for the passion and cool factor you bring to this otherwise dubiously useful devices (for the guy playing along at home). Do we need servers? Probably not, but you bridge the gap between what you should do and what you can do for the fun of it and “what if” factor. Cheers bud!

Thanks Jeff. To reinforce your statements about the individual needs of end users, I personally watched one of your reviews on a specific product, doesn't matter which, but even though your review of it was mostly negative because of needing to serve your broader audience, I was still able to use the information you provided to move forward with purchasing it because it did fit my personal use case. So thank you for providing the deeper information beyond just a good/bad comparison review so that we can make informed decisions as consumers. You have inspired me to get back into the industry after a decade working elsewhere.

One of the reasons I love this channel is that you are very real about things. Some of my favorite videos are are the weird aliexpress builds as not everyone is looking for a mega gaming system. Keep up the good work and of course....Live long and prosper.

Thanks for all you do and the inspiration you provide Jeff! I have been a bit of an IT geek since my teens and got a career in the field doing a mix of help desk, desktop support and server admin work but have been away from the hands on work for the past few years while still interested in the field. Watching your videos the last couple of years made me hunger to get my hands dirty once more and in the last two months I finally got a small homelab going with a mix of cheap new, old or refurb hardware. I've even been using Proxmox specifically because you've been using it in several videos. It's great to be learning again, though I'm in way over my head.

Anybody else read the start of the second paragraph in his YouTube intro voice?

I've always appreciated your integrity, your humour, and your willingness to tell a vendor what they could be doing better when so many others would avoid mentioning negatives at all (if not downplaying them). Keep it up!

I think the moment you cemented my respect was how you ended up handling the whole "not reviewing products the right way" when you had a great conversation with HUB Steve, talking about the purposes of reviewing and the various methods and sundry related therein.

Love your content duder and we can tell your are a legit guy. The eyes Chico, they never lie… Don’t know why you felt you had to put this out there, probably there is someone trying to stir up drama for personal gains or something happened that I am not aware off. Anyway like mentioned above, the YT space knows you are one of the good guys. Peace, love and brewing!

I've grown to really enjoy your approach to content over the years. And your recent reviews are great examples of taking a different view and providing more than just a list of fps. Keep doing your thing.

I've been watching for a long time and love Jeff's transparency. I've loved how he has basically stayed away from the big drama around other "influencers" and stuck to what he does best. That is sometimes going down a rabbit hole and finding weird but neat things in places like AliExpress.

I have been tinkering with computers for ages, you inspired me to switch to proxmox ( which I enjoy more than my previous bare metal) and to finally build my own server instead of buying used ones.

Cheers, Jeff. I know you may have struggled writing this up but the way it's been done is wonderful. Thank you again and see you in the next video.

Craft Computing
There's been a lot of talk recently about ethics, review styles, morals, and personal conduct in the YouTube sphere lately, so I wanted to state for the record who I am, what I believe in, and more importantly, the expectations I set for myself.
I'm Jeff, and I run the YouTube channel Craft Computing. I focus on a WIDE variety of interests, ranging from Consumer PC hardware, PC Gaming Handhelds and Mini PCs, to more professional topics like servers, workstations and enterprise IT.
As for my experience, and why you might want to listen to me, I worked as an independent contractor doing MSP-type work, as a helpdesk technician and manager, and later as an IT Administrator and IT Manager over a 20 year career.
I founded Craft Computing nearly 8 years ago as a way to share my knowledge, experience, and passion for technology. I feel I can add to the tech community by providing tutorials on subjects I have a great deal of knowledge in, and provide consumer advice around both hardware and its use.
That said, I'm also not attempting to be the forefront of authority, nor the most detailed review outlet. At it's heart, Craft Computing is literally a guy in his basement, drinking beer, and sharing his love for both good brews and good hardware.
The job of a reviewer is to advise consumers on potential purchases, to either recommend or dissuade certain choices, and provide a better value to the consumer, no matter what their individual needs are. And it's the last part I truly like to focus on, as not all consumers have the same needs.
People build PCs and Servers for a variety of reasons, and an even wider variety of situations. My job is to find if a product has any potential value for those use cases. That doesn't mean only the fastest, quietest, smallest, or cheapest parts, because everyone has different needs and wants.
Buyer's guides and consumer reviews means having an open dialogue with my community, to see where different needs are. Find out how people are using hardware, and what they're building, and then find the parts that best fit those use cases.
But part of my job is also having an open dialogue with the companies who make those products. Companies trust my insight because they value honesty above all else. If a product is good, I'm happy to recommend it to my viewers.
If a product is bad, or doesn't meat a use case I can match it to, I'm honest about that as well. But I also provide recommendations to the company on how they might improve their products in the future to better meet the needs of their customers.
I have certainly slammed my fair share of products, but I strive to always provide actionable, reasonable improvements that a company can make to improve them in future revisions. I'm also there to celebrate when a company turns a miss into a hit. That means I've done my job right.
I also run my channel with a strict moral code. I only accept sponsorships from companies and products I vet ahead of time, and constantly evaluate those relationships. I do not accept money for product reviews, as I don't like the optics of it.
If I make a genuine mistake, I believe in open, up-front corrections. I make those corrections as visible as necessary, depending on the impact of the mistake. A wrong number in a chart is not as egregious as collecting incorrect data. Updates, comments, or full retractions are all options.
So, that's my personal moral compass and ethos as a reviewer. If you're into bringing positivity into the world, being passionate about your hobbies, or even just enjoy craft beer, I hope you'll stick around, as I'm having the time of my life being able to share my love of tech with you all.
If you would like to support me and what I do here at Craft Computing, I offer a full range of hand crafted merch over at craftcomputing.store, or you can join the Patreon and get access to my Discord server, where I hang out nearly every day, patreon.com/CraftComputing
Thanks everyone, and cheers🍻
