The Cantormortis is a highly exceptional creature. It is so far the only amphibian we've discovered in The World Below that is capable of flight. They live in and around lakes, rivers and swamps, they are just as good at swimming as they are flight, we've even witnessed them erupting out of the water, spreading their wings, and taking flight in one seamless attempt. They can fly for several miles before having to return to the water to rehydrate.
The nickname we've given is 'Death Singers" due to their haunting cries sounding like as if they're singing. These creatures also seemingly have a taste for human flesh. Along with their ability to fly, another unique ability they possess is their ability to mimic the cries of other animals, including humans. Any expeditions near their territory require us to stay in contact with eachother to assure we do not get lured into a trap by one or two Cantormortis.
Once they have lured their prey where they wanted them, they strike either from above, or from the water, quickly taking their prey under to drown. They are a rare sight, but we aren't sure if it's due to their elusive nature or if their numbers are decreasing
