The Sun card has a lot to do with the concept of growing up, maturing, and blossoming into your own identity. There are so many symbols on this card that can convey a myriad of things but allow me to explain some of the esoteric wisdom concealed within this card. Consequently, it unfolds a rather neat metaphor.
This card is assigned to the Hebrew letter Resh, which refers to the human head, as well as can relate to the start or beginning. And then you see depicted here, a baby. This baby is a personification of new beginnings. the Resh (Hebrew letter) is associated with the Sun card, representing the revelation of inner light and the ability to consciously create our existence, connecting the higher mind with the subconscious.
It is a little-known fact that babies are born with 52 teeth in their head. The #52 is also associated with the Sun card. You will notice there are 21 sun rays around the sun here on this card. And then if you look closely, you will see a hidden [black] Hebrew letter Lamed placed on the top center of this sun, and it just so happens to look like one of the squiggly sun ray lines.
This now gives us 22 sun rays in total. Lamed has a numerical value of 30. Take this 30 and add it to the 22 sun rays, and you get a total sum of 52. 52 also happens to be the number of weeks in a solar year, or another way to look at it, each year contains a total of 52 Sundays. The sun’s rays shoot out and enable the plants to grow. The sun provides us with nutrients that are essential for our human growth and development; ultimately, for all life on earth, really. It is said that a human adult by the age of 21 will have a total of 32 teeth, after having their baby (or milk) teeth grow and fall out. Therefore, these 21 yellow sun rays around this sun in this card can represent the 21 years it takes for a human to fully develop their ‘head’, the teeth in their head, as well as their maturity level or their character, as they grow into their own.
When considering the Lamed as one of the sun’s rays, these 22 sun rays will gradually feed and develop the 10 total sunflowers depicted in this card. And thus, 22+10 = 32. Moreover, having 32 teeth total as a fully developed adult is a significant Kabbalistic number as well. You see, there are 32 branches on the Kabbalah Tree of Life, and they can, in a sense, represent certain levels or degrees that ascend from 1 to 32: 32 being the best and the most developed. The 32nd branch is the final degree and highest level of spiritual enlightenment one can reach before ascending up into the higher awareness known as the Christ Consciousness, the Oneness, Super Conscious level that is pure Light, which taps into the Source of all things and becoming ‘at one with’ the Creator.
The road to maturity as well as spiritual enlightenment is a never-ending road. Sometimes it is good to check-in with yourself and see how far you have come, and also to realize how far you have yet to go. It is a humbling experience.
My intention for sharing this post is simply to spread knowledge because that’s what this card also symbolizes.☀️
