My two chihuahuas are not to not too bad. They act like dogs. I only have two rules, potty outside and no destructive behavior. So far my dogs have been fine. I laugh every day at their antics.

All I have to do is lower my voice, and she knows! She puts her head down, knowing she has done wrong, but in my book, she could never do you wrong❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾

That depends on the behavior. Anything below aggression is verbal reprimand. Aggression is sequestered for no more than 5 minutes. However, it is very important to reward good behavior all the time, even the little things.

I wish “exasperated sigh” was an option. Mostly I just say his name in an exasperated tone and ask him what happened as I clean up the mess. Lol! Last night he got into the trash while I was out. I said his name with a heavy sign and then peppered him with questions while I swept. There is no point in yelling. Yelling is scary for animals.

My dog is eight years old and does pretty good. At this point I just don't have the heart to scold him.

If the behavior is biting then the punishment should be getting put on a leash outside

I just take a deep breath and exhale. She is the most stubborn dog I have ever had and she has perfected her little whine (that even pierces my BOSE QC II headphones) and that means she is out of water, wants to go and sit outside in the grass in front of the apartment OR she is hungry. She'll be 13 this December and I feel guilty if I raise my voice to her, but I can't stay mad. She has had only one accident in the house and that was because she was very sick and was heading for the door but didn't quite make it. She looked so ashamed but I didn't blame her because she was sick. She has been a great dog, but is not a cuddle type of dog and absolutely hates riding in the car.

My dog is really good most of the time. She's a pittie who just lost her sister a year ago. I'm thinking of adopting her a new sister soon.

I check if my dog needs to pee, eat, or drink, and if not that just give some hugs until she calms down

If it is a major misbehavior I scold then take her to the bathroom and close the door for about 5 minutes to reinforce the lesson. This is like messing the on the carpet as soon as she comes in
