I’m probably alone here but I’m far more troubled by the way consumers have been treated by certain authorized dealers in the past several years. Has anyone else been “hustled” by their local AD? Mine tried to get me to buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry that I don’t need and can’t afford.

What I believe is that the brand is more important then where the watch is made. If Rolex was made in Germany or another EU country nothing would really change if they kept the warranty of 5 years. Ofc I prefer a Swiss made watch but that is just cause no one else in the EU has the machines to make watches. Except some German brands (small scale). Same with the Chinese, they have the machines to make advanced products made in china. Most countries just don’t have the technology and hardware to produce high quality products in scale. No one really cares where the iPhone is made if its China, India or some other country. What is important is that the quality is there and they hold up to what the brand promises the product to be. High quality.

If you're buying an expensive timepiece simply booking a flight and buying it outside of the US would probably be cheaper than paying a 12-22% price incease, and you could have a nice trip to boot. From what I've heard some European authorized dealers and independents will even book you a business class seat and pay for it themselves.

The U.S. has imposed a 39% tariff on Swiss imports (incl. watches), in force since Aug 7, 2025. Early signals point to price increases in the U.S., inventory reshuffling, and buyers reconsidering where and what to purchase.
Switzerland is seeking a negotiated fix, but for now the market is adjusting in real time. We want to hear how you plan to navigate this shift so we can report the real collector view on WatchAdvisor.
Analysts and trade press expect double-digit U.S. price moves (≈12–22%), some brands have already tweaked U.S. pricing and pulled forward shipments ahead of the deadline—signs this will touch both entry and high-end segments. Your votes will help us track the impact across the community.
!!!!! This is NOT a political discussion—please keep comments focused on collector impact and buying behavior. !!!!!

If U.S. prices on Swiss watches rise ~12–22%, how does that change your next purchase?
