Hunger games day 3:

All deaths are chosen by a wheel

The morning light filtered through the cracked glass ceiling of the mall, scattering across the dusty tiles. The arena was quiet, almost too quiet — the kind of silence that made your own heartbeat sound like thunder. The Career alliance had settled in the food court: Ruby sharpening her spear, Ali sorting weapons, Hazel on lookout, Mockingjay and Athena whispering by the barricade of overturned tables. River sat apart from them, cleaning her bow, lost in thought. She wasn’t like them. Not really. But for now, she stayed. When Hazel spotted movement near the edge of the lower level, Ruby called for a hunt. “Hazel, River, come with me,” she ordered. They moved quietly through the hallways lined with broken storefronts until they spotted Elowyn. She was crouched by a cracked mirror, filling a bottle from a leaking water pipe.

River froze. “Elowyn…” she whispered.

Elowyn turned, startled — and her expression crumbled when she saw who was behind her. “River?” Her voice cracked. “You’re with them?”

River lowered her sword a little. “It’s not what it looks like.”

Hazel snorted. “Sure it isn’t.” She nocked an arrow, aiming straight at Elowyn’s chest.

“Wait!” River stepped forward. “She’s not a threat.”

“She’s another tribute,” Ruby said flatly as she came up behind them. “That’s all the reason we need.”

Elowyn backed away, daggers trembling in her hands. “River, please—”

“Hazel, now,” Ruby ordered.

The arrow flew before River could move. It hit Elowyn just below the ribs, and she staggered, choking on her breath. Her eyes widened, then found River’s one last time — sad, almost betrayed — before she collapsed. BOOM.

The cannon echoed through the mall.

River’s fists clenched. “She wasn’t armed,” she muttered.

Ruby turned toward her slowly, a smirk tugging at her lips. “You sound upset.”

“She didn’t even fight back,” River said, her voice shaking.

Ruby stepped closer, eyes cold. “You wanna end up like your friend?”

River’s mouth opened — then closed. She said nothing. Just stared at the floor, her jaw tight.

“Didn’t think so,” Ruby said, turning away. “Let’s move. There’s still plenty left to kill.”

River didn’t follow right away. She looked at Elowyn’s body, swallowed hard, then whispered under her breath, “I’m sorry.”

On the other side of the mall. Kiwi and Ollie were still in shock about Etta. Ollie still couldn’t believe what happened, it all happened so fast, yet he was still responsible. Etta went for a drink at a water fountain they found and was gone for a while when they heard a boom they assumed was Etta (It was Nova). So when they heard someone running at him and Kiwi, Ollie grabbed a shard of glass from the shop they were in, and threw it at the enemy, only to hear a scream, Etta’s scream. “It wasn’t your fault” Kiwi said, as if she could read his mind.

“But it is—“ he was cut off by someone, or something…

All of a sudden mannequin jumped up from its spot and attacked Kiwi. This was his chance. The chance to redeem himself. Ollie ran at the mannequin with his knife, ripped it off her, and helped her up.

“Ollie look out!” Kiwi screamed. Ollie had just enough time to look behind him before another swarm of mannequins jumped on him.

“RUN!” He screamed….

BOOM.

2 faces appear in the sky tonight..
