i hate people acting like people who enjoy furries in a nsfw way or are into niche stuff like pooltoys are a "gross" and small part of the fandom. its absolutely NOT just a small part of the fandom and your argument supporting furries shouldn't isolate them just to put others up on a pedestal. we've always been here, and probably longer than you have. furries have always been "gross" and weird, the fandom at large has pushed back against major corporations trying to make us marketable (example: brands pulling furry related stunts on twitter) because attempting to make us "marketable" HAS to sanitize the history behind the fandom and i feel like furry becoming more mainstream would make more newer furries in the fandom start using this "well its not a kink because (this this and that)." argument that in turn denounces or otherwise erases the existence of other people that CLEARLY EXIST who aren't harming anyone and deserve this space aswell. those are just my thoughts.

THIS!!! i hate when any alternative thing gets mainstream really… idm if its something like a game or wtv because those are made to be popular but stuff like bands, artists, yada yada because often times it gets ruined so badly by popularity groups, this same thing applies to furries imo because when normies find furry stuff and like they either, embrace their weird side and become a part of us, or shun people in that group for longer times, or just make it have a bad reputation and do it only because its trndy nd stuff

@kaeyas_wifey

Idk not a furry but I'm alt so yh i understand not liking posers or ppl like just ruining music/ stuff in the community but I remember watching a reel yesterday abt a furry literally getting jumped. Maybe if being a furry was seen as less weird there would be less cases of stuff like that 💔 I just hate seeing "weird" ppl get hated on just for having interest

@cool_cats4

It's crazy how people are trying to make furries mainstream when I use to get bullied for being one💔

I hated when Let Down and EATEOT became TikTok alt girl sounds, that I’m gonna grow wings chorus makes me want to have a chemical reaction. And that “funny dementia song” has also been overplayed to oblivion, Back There Benjamin, Loss of Get Want Back There, And Bliss Everywhere Bliss, are ten times better.

@eepy-pastel-pink-k9

huh it's becoming mainstream what did i miss ?? i feel like that would ruin the community aspect, like it wouldn't be a bunch of people having a genuine interest anymore, just a bunch of whoever wanted to join something trendy, and i hate that idea

@yoman1659

Idk I don't like gatekeeping, that shit's become mainstream too in a way. Just my opinion tho

@anaceofsorts

I just dislike people trying to both gatekeep and shame people for liking certain media, it's two sides of the same coin - people should be allowed to like whatever they want to involve themselves in as long as it's not something harming themselves or others. Regardless if they're "new" to communities like this, there shouldn't be a divide between casual and hardcore fans, but instead a scrutiny of separating those who want to genuinely participate and those who just want to troll. Whether I think it's okay to assume the attitude of a whole by only judging a part (especially of a fandom or community) is another carton of eggs.

HELL YEAH CUPIDITE U THA GOAT!! I genuinely don’t think furry should be mainstream because it’ll be kinda like a scene thing where there’s a word for “posers” and it might even become a watered down term just like kin is a watered down term. I think furry should stay weird because then people know the original meaning. And also because if furry is more mainstream there’s gonna be tons of influencers buying fursuits and such and they won’t understand how hard the process of making one is, so they’ll probably complain about the wait time. Fursuits will also probably be put in shops and cost way less because more clothing is becoming made by robots due to the uprise in AI, so if they do sell fursuits in stores it’ll feel less meaningful and they’ll all probably start looking the same. If fursuits become made in stores, it’ll rub real people out of business. Thank you :3

@SoyBoyFred

I've seen people get hurt and abused for being furries. Keeping it "weird" and exclusive just feels kinda selfish to the people who want to enjoy it but have to "stay in the closet" because of the stigma. It's hard to have both something weird and not mainstream and then also destigmatize it at the same time. I see furries complain about the stigma and average joes being uneducated about furries, but then you don't want it to be mainstream. We gotta pick a lane.

@Lynzerfart

I’m a furry and I’m alt, but the bright side is people won’t be getting bullied or beaten up or straight up killed so yeah. I think alternative things being mainstream sucks a bit cuz normies and posers but at least I’m not getting harassed and humiliated for what I like anymore 😭 and all the trendhoppers eventually will go away when it’s not trending anymore and the ones that realize they actually enjoy what they like will stick around so imo it’s not that serious lmaoo

Yeah as a goth, a pagan and a furry (kind of?) I hate it when it becomes mainstream, in general I dislike the furry around normies because it gets fetishized or people think it is zoophilia or something? And I dislike the goth being around them because it's also fetishized pensive emoji. It gives normies and basic people wild ideas about us and they end up twisting the meaning of it completely; no gatekeeping but also when it comes to the eyes and hands of certain people it loses the whole point

@Criminally_Silly_Guy

I don’t really understand why some people don’t want the things they like to be popular cuz like….dont you want more people to enjoy the stuff you enjoy and bond over that n stuff??? Idk 😭

@Cannibahjunky

I respect the furry fandom. They have some wonderful art and designs. The only reason I don’t draw or associate with it anymore is because of personal reasons. I only draw characters I’m attracted to. It’s just weird liking characters with animal faces. I might draw them once in a blue moon. But not in the fandom anymore.
