I just realized/remembered Funny Farm is a Christmas movie. So if Vacation wears out its welcome and you need a Chevy Chase movie... I actually always thought this was one of his better ones and it sort of flies under the radar.

Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol was great in IMAX 3D when it came out. There are so many shlock Christmas movies. The one I hate is Miracle on 34 street. It's technically good, but my family watched it every year growing up and it's so shmaltzy and saccharine. I can't take it.

Just to piggy back on the holiday action movie idea, I believe Lethal Weapon was set around Christmas.

Some classics are Christmas Vacation, It's a Wonderful Life, Black Christmas, Home Alone, Die Hard (if that's to be counted). A couple newer ones that are great are The Holdovers and Terrifier 3. Edit: Forgot to add Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.

I’ve got #1 /1951’s, A Christmas Charol, Alistair Sim’s reckoning on Christmas morning alone could have won him an Oscar. #2 A Christmas Story.

Most overrated is “A Christmas Story.” I mean, nothing happens. Main character wants a gun as a present and some other kid gets his tongue frozen to a pole. That’s it, you just saw the movie. My favorite is “Home Alone.” I was just the right rambunctious age when I saw it, and even set up traps around the house for my older siblings to fall into—but, most of all, it is the mother and son bond and their reunion that still hits me like no other holiday film.

The problem is any good holiday movie gets WAY overplayed. So like in our house it is Christmas Vacation. Which I love but you can over-do it.
