Officially diagnosed two weeks before my 60th. (So, a bit over two weeks ago, lol.) Autism wasn’t really a “thing” when I was a child, and especially not for girls. I did so-so in school academically, so they just left me alone. Now, as i look back, SO much is now explained. I would have benefitted greatly from knowing much earlier in life, if only to be able to accept some of my own “quirks” as MY normal. I hope that autistic folks are able to get their individual diagnoses much easier in life now that it has more light shed on it. Children with autism sometimes need some grace instead of judgement. Please don’t tell ANY child “look at me when I’m talking to you!” I’m learning a lot from your channel, and so much of it resonates with me on a very deep level. HUGZ!

Officially diagnosed with ASD and ADHD last year at the age of 54….Finding out my grandchildren and wider family members were neurodivergent is partly the reason my daughter suggested I have an assessment…She is also neurodivergent .My other daughter is on the waiting list too….so glad I had the assessment it’s brought so many,” Aha” moments…🌻

Diagnosed at 51 just under a year ago. Went to get therapy for a personality disorder, but came out with autism diagnosis instead. Big surprise, but obvious now. So many things from my childhood up to now makes sense for the first time ever

Officially diagnosed with ASD, ADHD and CPTSD a couple weeks ago, just a couple months shy of 37 years old. Major relationship issues, uncontrollable anxiety and breathing issues, and worsening executive functioning. Really trying to find therapies and other modalities to manage the anxiety and many of your videos have already been so helpful! Thanks Chris and Debby!

My kid has the official diagnosis, but now that I'm beginning to understand ASD, PDA & that ASD & ADHD can co-exist, so much more about my own past begins to make sense. Also- LOVE your videos!!! I have been looking for something like this for over a year! Thank you.

I’m around 30 and self identify as autistic, I don’t really have any intention of getting an official diagnosis, I saw some stuff online that seemed to answer some questions I’ve had my entire life and kind of just spiraled from there into reading books and researching and watching tons of YouTube videos :) it’s explained so much about my childhood and adulthood both and it’s helped a ton with finding ways to make my life more pleasant

As a older adult (almost 63) living in Australia, I have found it's almost impossible to be officially diagnosed. Mainly as there are so few qualified people to do it, but also if you do manage to find someone, the cost is prohibitive. 😢

Officially diagnosed adhd at age 50 when I went into complete burnout from masking and overcompensating my entire life. A couple months later after stumbling down a rabbit trail of first audhd then autistic content and relating to that much more than just adhd content I began to realize I'm also autistic. In fact once I started taking medication for adhd I noticed my autistic traits coming to the surface even more. So after analyzing, then analyzing some more, then of coarse over analyzing my entire life as far back as I can remember which is petty far. I finally got past imposter syndrome and am now fully confident that I finally found a box that I fit in.

Officially diagnosed a year ago at 62,and I have a son who is self diagnosed, ive always know I had issues but didn't have the understanding or vocabulary to explain as it wasn't considered a 'thing' with girls years ago, what prompted me to go for an assessment was talking to my step daughter who's daughter is autistic, whenever she told me things about her it was like someone describing me as a child, I could resinate so much ,I can't say it's been easy as I've had to re think my who life but things make so much more sense now so im glad I did it .

Dxed with ADHD at almost 61. Self-diagnosed with autism. So I guess I'm a half-official AuDHDer. What led me to seek a Dx was learning about ADHD in women and realizing how it explained so much in my life - strings of failures punctuated by occasional wild successes. Walking into furniture and doorways all the time. Misophonia and other sensory sensitivities. Always late even when I back-tracked to plan and budget my time.

I just got diagnosed this past Wednesday (great timing as it was Autism Awareness Day). I am 41 years old. I first became aware of my own symptoms when a client I was seeing was reporting signs that I completely related to and she had the diagnosis. So I did a deep dive in learning about ASD and realized that it really connected with me. Decided to seek the diagnosis when I got extremely unregulated when my work started messing with my schedule and routine so I can put value to my accommodation request (predictability and set schedule) I was given a diagnosis of ADHD but the report I read about it did not sound like me at all. So decided to get a second opinion. It seems that the signs the previous clinician evaluated as ADHD were actually signs of ASD.

Official ADHD dx. Around 2002. The therapist had seen me for a year and absolutely could not decide between “ADD and one other really similar thing.” Never thought to ask about the other one. She reluctantly went with ADHD. Years later had my first son. Officially Autistic. The more I learned, the more I knew I had to also be. A few years later I heard you used to only get one or the other diagnosed, not both… and it was my major lightbulb moment. I’m surely both.

I avoided being officially diagnosed autism because I did not want ABA. Or I like to call it official sanctioned child abuse.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in childhood. I recently watched a comedian who made a mistake in his set and made a funny voice. Someone in the audience said that it was a sign of Autism. I use funny voices. So I did a deep dive and believe I'm AuDHD. I've been masking since I was 3! This makes my whole life make so much more sense!

Officially diagnosed last year at 43. It always felt like I never fitted in and especially the last couple of years I felt that more strongly. Also my inability to form and keep meaningful relationships increasingly became something I worried about. By the beginning of last year I finally hit breaking point (what I now know was an autistic burnout) and went to my GP. He suggested the possibility of autism and it was like something just clicked in my head. It made so much sense. Luckily I was able to get my assessment just a couple of months later, ticked all the boxes (even the criteria I never thought off) and got my diagnosis. Recently I suspect I might have ADHD as well. A formal diagnosis for that is not something I actively seek, since self diagnosis is also valid in my opinion.

Official diagnosis last month but realized last year that I was experiencing similar things as other autistic people. With pinpoint clarity my entire 53 years of life makes sense now. It also explains: an interesting comment about being autistic from a co-worker who is autistic but I didn't take her serious and why I'm the only one able to talk/communicate with my niece who was diagnosed about 7 years ago and she's 27 now.

I always felt different from everyone around me. I started searching online what would be my diagnosis. Unofficially i am in the spectrum of autism. I live now in the UK and it will cost almost £2000 to be assessed and officially being told that i am autistic. Its my superpower🤗 i dont need a paper to tell me what i already know to be true
