Which is better? Personally I think Digital Cinema is trash. You can get better image quality on a 4k TV or even a smartphone with an OLED screen. I think either film distributors and theatre chains need to step up when it comes to quality. They should Install better projectors and sound systems, and modernize theatres. They need to improve room acoustics and sound isolation as well. That’s when THX should come back into play, with stricter standards. I’ve been in cinemas built to THX standards in the early 2000’s and I still hear the adjacent auditorium. If the theatre industry wants to survive, they need to make an experience worth it to have people pick going to the movies rather than watching a movie at home. I also think that film projection needs to make a comeback for that reason. Watching a digital presentation is essentially like watching a big TV. Film projection is different and has a completely different personality, and much higher resolution than its digital counterparts. People want to justify paying upwards of $12 to see a movie, film would make it worth it. It would create a unique experience you can’t get at home. Ticket prices might go up because of the extra cost of running film, but I think it would be worth it. Maybe even market it as a premium format. Comment what you think below. I’m curious to hear all of your guy’s opinions.
