It's always confused me why Gale describes his condition and it's visually depicted as if he absorbs it into his chest, but everyone else describes it like he just unhinged his jaw and ate it like a snake eats a hamster.

Mechanically it woulda been cool if when he consumed the magic in the item we got it back. But just normal versions of them. Like boots of magic would now just be boots. A staff would be a polearm effectively. Etc The fact he seemingly consume the item itself has some interesting implications.

The gall of that man, wanting to eat the bard hat when I'm not playing a bard. I might need that later!

As the D&D player, I understand that he doesn’t actually eat the shoes for his condition but as a video game player, this is the only way I imagine it happening

Looks up at you with big wet eyes, bashfully tapping fingers together "Baby's hungry again..." (Wrath Club 'Gale is Hungry' reference)

I love how DnD is a game and franchise where we hoard nearly everything on the 0.01% chance that it might have narrative value down the road... yet when it's Gale's feeding time, we all know that these boots and this staff are absolutely okay to give him with no future repercussions whatsoever.

Tav, seeing Gale swallow it without even gagging: ......I feel I just saw something I shouldn't have. Almost everyone else: Agreed. Halsin: Noice! Minthara: HA! GAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

Tav: finds enchanted underwear Gale: Ya gonna eat that?

Sure, Gale has to eat all of magic items, and everyone's fine with that. But the MOMENT I suggest that he eats his own enchanted underwear, suddenly I'm the one who's "wrong" and "crossing a line". Maybe don't magic up your briefs then, sir!
