You guys called me crazy when I said we'd get 350-400k peaks on helldivers companion. My prediction was 123k xbox players, so lets do some math on how many new xbox players were fighting in the galactic war at the same time!
The total player peak between all platforms was 386,000. Steams player peak at the same time was 167,000. Now throughout this games history, playstation vs pc player counts have always been a 70/30 split. Maybe at certain hours a little more or little less, but it's pretty much always been 70/30. So if you just take 167,000 / .7 = 238,000. So if the 70/30 split is accurate right now, that means that there was a peak of 238k players online for PC and PS5. Alright so now, we just take 386,000 - 238,000 = 148,000 Xbox players! Some of you called me crazy for thinking we'd get 123k, but it turns out I underestimated! Xbox players have been waiting for this game for a year and a half! They saw the battle of the creek, super earth, etc. Finally they get to join us and run around as an ODST:).

These numbers are estimates, as we only know the steam peak numbers, and helldivers companion peak numbers. #helldivers2

The more interesting part here for me is how the squids are more popular than bots considering their condition the past few months, maybe this is AH’s chance to fix the squids, there are new illuminate entities already playable within the game with unfinished new objectives so it’s safe to say we are 1-2 months away from an illuminate content drop which could include some rebalancing for them

I saw it get to around 500k during the day.. God it's so good to see 120k people on hd2 at 3-4am on a weekday instead of 30k on a weekend at noon

It's just crazy that we were 390k already. Yesterday afternoon (in Europe) I thought we would get to 300k tops and then 500-600k with the update next week.

What's crazy is that we're hitting these numbers and the impact mod makes it where having 100k players on a planet isn't enough to mount a defense.

Played last night on the bot front with level 20 Xbox players on super helldive. Dropped them a RR. Helped them retrieve SC and samples. Love helping out the new recruits. We barely made it out alive with 0 reinforcements and 1 helldiver casualty but it was such a good time

That's pretty much the numbers that we were getting when the game launched in the beginning. So that tracks. A lot of PS/PC players came back just because of Xbox. We'll see what it's like when it levels out.

The unfortunate thing is that the high player counts kinda works against us on pulling gambits now, since the Impact Multiplier takes % of total population and not just high raw player counts. So we end up failing multiple gambits because you get high count of players on a planet, the game snapshot that, and then people went to sleep and it still uses that data point for the planet HP. We got 70k players on Terrek and it wasn't captured while back when the game wasn't having this high of player count, we could gambit a planet with just 20k. This galactic war mechanic is hella annoying and not helping sending the clear message on how to do gambit since we lost multiple times of planet that could be gambit'd
