On this very day 100 years ago, the first K-36 made its first ever run, beginning their century-long reign over the Rio Grande Narrow Gauge.
“Number 480, first of the new freight locomotives to put into service on Gunnison Division, was placed in service last week. Mister Broderick, Trainmaster at Gunnison, went out with the new locomotive on an inspection trip. The new engine is larger and more powerful than any now in service.”
Work on the 100th anniversary video is going good, but it’s going very slowly because school started this week. Should be coming out soon though!
