Stress can be a “triggering factor” to acne. Stress causes release of hormones like cortisol , CRH which are sebogenic ( which means stimulates oil glands to produce more oils) and cause inflammation leading to acne.

Areas affected by stress acne - since it is caused because of triggering oil glands , you will get them on the oily parts of face like cheeks, nose, chin, forehead ( usually in the pattern of genetic acne)

On the other hand for example, hormonal acne is seen the lower part of the face ( jawline )

Treatment is Mainly stress management and treating active acne with a good skin care protocol and in clinic treatment in severe cases.
