Actually started to follow your videos and post when i was designing my first natural swimmingpool, approx 10 years ago. Location Thailand, what also introduced topic of tropical climate, where most info was Europe related. At that time the organic concept was new to me and i read many articles, see videos etc from yourself and others. At that time natural pools were relatively new and limited good info available…….. even from you at that time. Was in contact with guys owning grade of University of Wageningen and developing and already build (public accessible) natural pools in Netherlands. Their methode differ from many others (including yours David) so i purchased their “secret” filter technic for stunning amount of 1000 Eur. I used this technology in my first natural pool of 300 m2 and it did work. Over time i improved a bit more, necessarily because of large fish in it; main improvement was sandfilter….. worked well but required backwash every other day…..now beadfilters are available what would be better choice. Nevertheless pool stays majority of year clear, fish love it and grew from 2 cm to over 60 cm and humans loved the smooth water…… shrimp, crab, frogs etc found their way so also birds like Kingfisher visited frequently. Occasionally a snake too (harmless one). Anyhow, circumstances put me in situation that i had to leave house and natural pool; start new phase in life including new home and again natural swimmingpool…….and yes still in Thailand. I am currently in design phase and new pool will be build without “fish section” but more like yours…..freeform with dimensions of roughly 30 x 15 meter whereoff 50% is plantzone. Deep (2 mtr +) zone for diving in and also a beach entry sloping to 1.20 mtr. This time i will use soley your methode David; bought video and book and this will be my bible designing and actual making it, although i do consider replacing your filter with washdrum for beadfilter………maybe you have good reason not to do so ? Oh and since liner is more expensive than concrete here, the base will be made out of concrete as i did before……the shallow parts again finish with sandwash but deeper parts just unfinished (just rendered) Look forward to this new project and trust results will be better than previous one…..your bubble tubes with draining low in regeneration plant zone makes sense and better than the methode i bought 10 years ago……lastest improvements with loops sure will be used. I keep subscription to your channel ofcourse and follow any new you bring in…….the first-flush system i surely use.

Hi everyone,
a few days ago we have reached 100k subscribers on my YouTube channel.
I just want to give a huge thank you to all of you out there who have helped me on this incredible journey!
I started making my pool in 2008. Back then swimming in a pond was seen as distinctly weird and it provoked a lively debate. Now the idea is completely mainstream, almost everybody has heard of natural swimming pools and their advantages for wildlife and human health.
I am delighted my films have inspired so many people to make their own pool and experience delicious swimming in fresh water for themselves.
I look forward to making more content to help more of us make more pools!
All the best,
David
