As the discussion wound down, I thought this might be a good place to leave this comment: I noticed your reaction to Rouge One as a rewatch (after Andor). I’ve recently had discussion with a couple of other creators I support about the merits of a rewatch. Raising this with you specifically came to mind because most of the ultimate nerd show (Doctor Who) is missing from your library and I surmise the reason is you watched the episodes already thus being unable to record first watch reactions. IMHO, there is value in a second (or perhaps later) look as long as it is done honestly and transparently. Yes, surprise reveals are no longer surprises. But the setup for those later reveals is known early on and that opens up an entirely different avenue for commentary. Something gained and something lost… But it always seemed to me that the construction of a First reaction was a bit artificial. It’s the thoughts & commentary of the creator that makes it interesting—whether to a first reaction, a rewatch, or a repeat viewing a year+ later. Anyway, that’s my thoughts on the matter. Now shared. Make of it what you will. 😲
