Practical Preparedness

Hey Everybody,
Some of you may have heard of an ongoing Berkey lawsuit (which Berkey claims is a Scam in itself, which doesn't surprise me I suppose), and I wanted to remind folks that the DIY video with the "Buckey" can be used with any gravity-fed filter. You are not required to use a Berkey filter with the bucket. Same build, just put in a different filter element.
I am personally waiting to see where this lawsuit goes, and if anything comes from it. I will be just as angry as anyone if we find out that we were scammed, especially with the amount of $$ spent just to own one. It's quite the investment, and we all just want a way to make clean water for our family and friends.

I'll mention something in my DIY Bucket video description for new viewers and wanted to share this with you too.

See you all soon,
Justin

I hadn't heard about a lawsuit involving Berkey filters. It is disappointing that in our society, everything seems to be a cause for litigation. Keep up the good work Justin, you have your fan's support (whatever that amounts to in the real world).

I just bought mine a few weeks ago...still haven't put together yet. I don't know whether to just roll with it and use it or try to return. What is aggravating is that I researched and pondered for months, and finally had the money saved up to buy it.

I have to admit I've been comparing water filters in my head ( 🤯) and wondering how a ceramic filter can perform differently to ceramic rings used in aquarium or pond filter

I have a Big Berkey I've been using for almost a year now..We use it Every day and Love it.. we've used other water filters before and still rate Berkey as number one.Funny how thousands or more have agreed how much they love Berkey while only a handful say they want a law suit...so now, who you going to believe ?

I hadn't heard, but I wasn't planning on using their filters since the Project Farm comparison came out a while ago.

I have been seeing references to that suit, but assumed it was from a scam. It looks like a good product, but people will find fault with anything now.

Maybe use a bucket to make a natural filter (with sand and charcoal) as a larger filter on top and dispense with any store bought filter?

Evidently it's not just burky filters that are the issue I also heard two other companies were part of this lawsuit Aqua pure and aqua something else. But there are many companies out there claiming to be these name brand filters and are not as well so we don't know if it's the fake filters that are being sold under the names of these people or whether it's actual company filters that are the issue and problem

I bought the Imperial, the Big, and the Travel, but I never bought the black filters. I stocked up on silver impregnated ceramic.

I had bought the filters to make a DIY one and my mom bought a zero water pitcher that came with a little meter that would tell you how many contaminates were in your water. We tested our water before straight from the tap and it read at "256". We sent it through the Berkey and tested it again and it read at "274" and the water had a nicotine taste to it. Couple days later, tried the rest again. First number was "255", after it was filtered was "280". We had only used it about 5 or 6 times before throwing out the filters. It was a complete waste of money. I'm so glad I didn't but the whole system. I wouldn't recommend the zero water pitcher either. Either the pitcher was damaged or it's just our horrible water, but it came out of the pitcher smelling and tasting like old fish

Our water line was hit by a fiber optic cable project, and out for a short period. I bought a ProOne filter system and have been quite happy. I am not paid and i am not a robot lol

I have a Berkey a big Berky for about 15 years. My granddaughter dearly loved the water and we all used it we use it for cooking and making coffee and I was really proud of it I send it to Tennessee with my daughter and her family with the intent on buying another one. I just didn’t think it would be as long as it has been. I was going to buy one this week or next week and then this came out I hate it because I really like the idea of a Berky. So I guess I will wait a little bit as I cannot find out how to get a hold to Birkey. If anyone has their number please send it to me. Thank you
