Dorian Yates did approximately 4 sets per muscle group each 5 days! Mentzer prescribed 1 set per muscle group every 7-15 days. So Yates did 5 to 10 times more volume. Totally different approaches!

Much respect to him. That worked for him extremely well. That approach doesn't work for everyone. You gotta experiment and find what works for and what you can recover from.

Question !! Been lifting for 26 years on and off. Coming off hip surgery and had a shoulder redone also. Would Mikes approach work with MTB racing training on days off? I’m training for biking and lifting the same days and still making gains. Went from 219 to 234 in 4 weeks. But I do feel tired and sore 24/7 even sleeping 10 hours.
