I feel like Ryoma would make a lot of sense as a mastermind. His backstory would make him want everyone else to feel despair, and he’s already got that “don’t judge a book by its cover” vibe to him.

Kokichi cause he has the perfect personality, we realize at the end his lies for his organisation are real and that can prove he's a true monster and he manipulate easily other people while they had clues from the beginning

Trigger Happy Havoc: I know he’s precious, but Kiyotaka would honestly make for a good mastermind. He always prioritizes on hard work and dedication, hence him not really believing in “ultimates”. He would gather around naturally talented people and have them kill each other off one by one, so that only hard workers can live on in society. Goodbye Despair: I guess Sonia would fit the most due to her fascination with murder mysteries and her role as a princess. Killing Harmony: Korekiyo Shinguji would honestly be awesome as a mastermind. Since he is into anthropology, he would want to set up all kinds of killing games just to study human behavior and how much it has evolved over the years.

Shuichi. It would have been awesome to see the two protags to have twists like Kaede being the “murderer” of Ch1 and Shuichi being the mastermind of the whole game that he is trying to stop

I have to say Makoto, I would say that because of the twist factor imagine if your playing danganronpa (the first one) and you got to know Makoto so much and He turns out to be the mastermind, I think that would have made for an amazing twist. For V3 I would have to say Kokichi because of his unpredictable behavior and how he's kinda like Junko along with how chaotic he was in the killing game I would have to say he would have been a really good mastermind.

Kazuichi. Weird, I know, but given how he has so much knowledge of mechanics and the second game is actively lacking a mastermind, he fits the bill perfectly. Not to mention a fantastic motive of constant mistreatment from his classmates.

I know a lot of people have said this already, but i think Sonia could have made a good mastermind. Mostly because she barely had anything to her character, so her being the mastermind would actually flesh her out a bit more. And it could have been really cool and angsty to see this presumably sweet and pure princess deceiving everyone and actually being the villian. Soda would be devastated, I imagine

Game 1) Chihiro - Gets killed off and Alter Ego runs it afterward. Game 2) Sonia out of sheer manipulation Game 3) Kaito. Especially so that he got kokichi to write the script he wrote into his mind

gonta. seeing him turn into this sadistic motherfucker would be so interesting. and tsumugi being abke to cosplay gonta's whole persona would be great as well. the idea is from zipperqwerty, but him being the ultimate arachnologist and having the whole scheme being a web of sorts is really interesting to me. i also enjoy the hc of tsumugi and gonta both being masterminds and them having a sibling relationship/people that only get along in a work setting. gonta being a better liar than kokichi would be cool as well and seeing him bring it up would be cool as hell to me.

Unpopular opinion but I personally think Leon could’ve been an interesting mastermind. Being the first blackened could’ve been apart of his plan to spread the despair towards his classmates :)
