Note: Mario Kart Tour is a mainline Mario Kart game, despite it being a mobile game. Nintendo even stated that Tour counts as a mainline Mario Kart game. Don't just ignore their words on that.. I think the next Mario Kart would either have a cool title (like Double Dash!!) or they will continue putting numbers in the title. (Mario Kart X, since "X" is the roman numeral for 10 and considering that it will be the 10th entry into the mainline series.)

Mariokart X just sounds way better and rolls off the tongue. It also fits The NS2âs modern feel more, since it will be a launch title.

At this point, I am convinced it will be X. Mario Kart Tour may have been a mobile game, but Nintendo considers it the 9th main entry. 1. Super Mario Kart 2. Mario Kart 64 3. I predict that Nintendo will go away from numbered Mario Karts in general. 1) to give the game more of an identity and distinction from the existing Mario Kart 8 deluxe. 2) Mario Party has seen a similar shift away from numbered entries. But I think the only way they do stick to some kind of number is if it is Mario Kart X, because that leans into the numbered approach more subtly while also giving it its own sleek subtitle of X.
