Baldurs Gate 3 is the best game I ever played. Like in my life, not just this year. It checked all the boxes for me. Overtook The Witcher 3 as my all time favorite.

Tunic is easily my favourite game I've played this year. Not the biggest or most bombastic, but a unique and magical experience.

My current favorite of the ones I've played this year is The Great Ace Attorney. Such fun and pure joy.

GOG getting the Yakuza games and having a big sale on the whole pack got me to finally try them out, after having thought they look like my kind of thing for a while. And did it ever deliver! It's over the top, but sometimes melodrama and sometimes just ironic metajokes, always with something new to try and side quests for days. The only thing I could wish for is a Walkman to take the karaoke tunes with me out on the street looking for trouble.

My favorite game this year is watching young people playing fallout new vegas

We're still in the universe where Ian isn't hosting, at least. That means the dimensions are stabilizing.

Hope everyone has a smooth recovery period. I'm actually having a blast with Phantom Liberty, the new DLC content for Cyperpunk 2077. They put a lot from the anime, Edgerunners, in the DLC and I really enjoyed the anime.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a fantastic outlet for my friends and I to play. It’s been brilliant and finally coming in finishing the game with a group. I’ve also been pumped and liking the new step into Armored Core 6 even though it’s quite different from the past games.

Been enjoying the heck out of Remnant 2. Finally getting into a souls-like, but with pretty fun shooting and so many secrets to discover.

My top game this 2023 is, weirdly enough, Civilization VI. That sim never stops giving new surprises in our family! What do you mean you started the Space Race in 1710, Hammurabi?!

TotK for me. Really impressed with how fun it is to just walk around and explore 😊

Haven't played BG3 yet, so I'll give a top three, split by size/time to finish the game: Big: Midnight Suns Medium: Neon White Small: Case of the Golden Idol

Armored Core 6 has been my personal GOTY and am kinda sad I know it won’t win officially since it will be up against tears and BG3.

FFXIV: Endwalker because I finally got to the end of Patch 6.0 after not playing for 3 years due to grad school. But also because it seems to have wrapped up a major chunk of its story, and it was pretty satisfying.

I haven't played a whole lot of games this year, but Skyrim was on sale a bit ago so I picked that up and have been having a bunch of fun

Shovel Knight, loved watching it growing up and finally decided to have a go at it and it’s now one of if not my favorite game of all time

Looking forward to ChillPoint! For me, the #1 game this year was... actually Baba Is You, a game I heard about when it first came out back in 2019 but only got around to playing a few months ago. I'm late to the party, but it's really good!

LRR Videogames
It's that time where I leave a note to let you all know that there is no CheckPoint this week.
People are still recovering from going to MagicCon Vegas and thus are too tired to deal with the gaming news shenanigans of this week.
And wow there are definitely some shenanigans this week. We'll still be running the ChillPoint stream on Friday at 2pm PT on twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun and the vod will show up on YT a couple of days later.
Since we're here why don't you all tell me what video game is the best game you've played this year. Doesn't have to have come out this year, just you did play it and it hits that number one spot for you!
Right now for me I'm not sure it might be Tears of the Kingdom but Baldur's Gate 3 really might usurp that once I get some more hours in.
