J.D. - A Lawyer Explains

I watched the hearing today in Read. Brennan is the nastiest cross-examiner I have ever seen. If you were playing a drinking game and took a shot every time she said "I'll allow it" for Brennan, you'd have been drunk ten minutes in.

The name says it all. I’m a paralegal not an attorney but I’ve been in the legal profession for over 20 years and she is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. She constantly interrupts the defense, completely stops them when they’re impeaching witnesses and then coaches the witnesses by asking “can you answer that?” letting them off the hook so to speak. Not to mention, the completely absurd rulings and zero sanctions for the CWs non production of discovery and the inverted video.

I'm so happy you are following this case. As an appellate attorney, I'm sure your head must be spinning at the obvious bias from the judge. It was bad in the first trial. This time, she took her gloves off, it seems. She doesn't seem to care how obvious it looks.

This judge needs to be shown in law schools across the nation. Law students need to be prepared for such a person. I agree about Brennan. It is why he was chosen I am sure

@Dr.angiep

He would not get away with that behaviour in any other courtroom and everyone knows it! It’s shameful!

If this results in AARCA testimony and report being excluded from the jury trial I'll definitely believe there's corruption.

Because of the judge’s bias, I can only watch the trial in recaps. Why is she allowed to preside over this case still? Also since the lead investigator- Proctor was fired for misconduct (in this case for sure) why hasn’t the case been thrown out? So many questions..

@tortsandtortes

If she's found guilty there must be plenty of ammo for appeal.

@ilikemitchhedberg

Auntie B is biased in the extreme, imho

This whole case should never be tried because of the very bad investigations on the part of law enforcement. The better the quality of the judicial system the better the weaker individuals who carry the judicial system, will be revealed. In this case; law enforcement, prosecution and the judge. The prosecution should never have considered to try this case. The idea that personal gains are the main motives to try this case, if not to say to get Karen Read convicted.

Could not agree more, sir! So unprofessional, disrespectful, immature and disgusting! Oh and Bev was just as disgusting! 😡 FKR

Brenan acted like a thug. Auntie Bev should retire into oblivion, never to be seen or heard in a court house.

It's as painful watching this judge as it is watching the obviously biased Judge Hein in the Pike County murders.

In my opinion, the better judges are the ones that one doesn't really notice. They preside over trials and ensure they run smoothly. A similar principle applies to sport. If the fans aren't complaining about the officials' decisions then they haven't marred the spectacle.

I cannot watch this trial. Everyone in it pisses me off.

@mirandaajames

The Judge made a finding and ruling that the defense "lied" about the nature of the ACCRA expert's relationship with the defense team and that she would allow a full and vigorous cross examination by the CW. That's what went down today. I bet she still allows them testify in front the jury though. Would she still be considered biased then?

If she gets found guilty can she appeal or not since first was mis trial?

@anitaholst7671

Arent the state and judge ensuring an appeal case with this misbehavior?

@POVwithRC

Judge was really lackadaisical. Brennan was unhinged. Bad combo.

I didn't think he was nasty. The guy was deflecting. I didn't find him credible in the 1st trial. As for the judge, she seems a bit better than the 1st trial. A bit, lol
