A Very important development took place recently. The Govt of India has amended the Schedule 1 of MGNREA 2005 act And now, 65% of the MGNREA funds will be used in rural water conservation
Like construction of ponds, canals, micro irrigation, rainwater harvesting, etc
So cool !!!
Climate change can impact rice and wheat yields in the next 20 yrs Also events of droughts are now frequent due to climate change
And in this context this decision will be a master stroke
Kudos to the Senior IAS who suggested this reform to the PMO
