Fighting a bureaucracy is always fun. In my career, I had the "good fortune" of dealing with USDA, FDA, and FSIS on a regular basis. The FDA cost us over a million bucks when a renegade inspector declared a "recall" when it was actually a voluntary product withdrawal due to a gassing issue on a canned product. You can't close Pandora's Box, so I wound up flying all over the east coast to watch people throw product in the dumpster. Meanwhile, no pathogens were found, nobody got sick, and several companies ignored the recall and just used the product. On one occasion we had a USDA inspector tell us that the freezing process was more important than the cooking process in controlling pathogens. My boss had to kick me under the table to keep me from going off on that guy. How many people have gotten sick from eating pasture raised chicken? My guess is that your chicken is more safe than the stuff we can buy at retailers because we all know how well Walmart handles product. I am sure they throw fresh chicken away when they find a buggy abandoned on an aisle with a bunch of fresh and frozen foods. Nope. It goes right back in the cooler or freezer. Good luck with all of this crap.

"Georgia Farm Politics" Spent some time on the phone with Greg Gunthorp this afternoon. We are moving into the appeal process with the USDA. They stated to me at the end of last week that Georgia should have the jurisdiction of the small poultry exemption. Georgia no longer has a system for that and it should be governed by the USDA. We will now appeal the decision that the USDA made saying Georgia has the jurisdiction. New video coming Sat.
