There was this day that a conversation was going on at work while i was in the Bank and my colleagues were talking about how all marriages have lingering problems. I told them mine did not have a lingering problem, and that was the beginning of a panel of enquiry.
They asked why I thought my marriage was void of challenges, and I told them that my wife Wendy Ologe and I started our marriage with a complete plan we had created. In that plan, we had a conflict resolution process and we had followed this all through the marriage. So when conflicts come, they do not linger. We use our plan to conclusively resolve them and move on with our lives.
Marriage is experienced based on the level of knowledge the couple have, and the will to implement that knowledge.
Let me take you through what I termed, The Ideal Process of Marriage.
✅ (1) Finding Yourself: You need to discover who you are, correct your ways, build capacity and be a wholesome individual
✅ (2) Find Your Spouse: Identify and conclude on the person you are to marry. To achieve this, there is need for you to acquire the requisite knowledge on what to look about for. (I have a book titled WHO TO MARRY, and we have the annual course, BECOMING MR & MRS, both for eligible singles)
✅ (3) Create a Marriage Plan: A marriage plan is a blueprint of how you want your entire marriage to go. This process of creating the plan should begin immediately both of you agree to get marriage, and should span all through the courtship period so you have a complete plan before the wedding day. ✅ (4) Prepare For The Marriage: The marriage is life long and so it is important that you understand what the institution is, and learn how to navigate it. You do this by attending proper Premarital Counseling ( We run premarital counseling at the Academy). Many marriages are failing today because they did not have proper premarital counseling before they were wedded)
✅ (5) Get Married Properly: People’s definition of proper marriage differ. However this is my own definition according to the Bible- after you have the consent of your parents, fulfilled your obligations to family, a Minister of God is to officially join you together. This joining must not be a lavish ceremony. It can even be a wedding in the Pastors office with at least one withness from each intending spouse.
✅ (6) Keep Your Marriage Alive: Because marriage is lifelong, there is the need for it to be constantly renewed. Being a part of a marriage community like the COUPLES CONCLAVE of the Academy will keep your marriage rejuvenated.
Do not leave the health of your marriage to chance. You can have a marriage where conflicts are resolved timely and conclusively. You can enjoy your marriage to the fullest if you just dedicate time and effort to it.
