I feel like mereum realistically is the best choice. Yes, in the beginning he looked down on humans and only saw them as a source of nutrients but later (spoiler?) his perspective was changed by a single human girl over a board game. Had mereum been given the right teachings, time, and "upbringing" his intelligence alone would've definitely changed the world. Remember, he was technically still a child.
