Happy Easter, my left eye closes a little more than my right eye when I smile or get tired because I have astigmatism/lazy eye in my left eye. I used to have to wear an eyepatch on my right eye to try to strengthen my left eye and always felt like such an idiot loser because I couldn’t see and I had to wear something over my eye like a pirate patch over my eye, it didnt work btw.
I hear different frequencies in each ear, my right ear lost certain frequencies when I was in a boating accident in 2017, that’s why I prefer my on stage monitor to be on the left and when I am in the recording studio, I have my headphones lopsided to even out the sound, no engineer could ever fix it.
I remember when I was little, we would do the Easter egg hunt at Beringer Winery, in St. Helena. I remember vividly feeling intimidated, by all the other swarming kids in a rush to grab Easter eggs as fast as they could. I remember as they said “go”, I just stood there and watched all the orher kids go nuts as quickly as they could to consume and grab as many eggs as they could, while I stood there with my empty basket. I remember my dad saying (at my first time, I was 4/5) “what’s wrong with you?? go, go get the eggs. Everyone else is going. You’re gonna miss out”! I remember as soon as I made it across the grass all the eggs had been taken. I remember another kid coming up to me to compare how many eggs I had, when I had only a couple, they shared theirs with me.
It wasn’t long after that, I met my best friend Lilly, who was born blind. She never had any eggs in her basket, she couldn’t see to get them…. But she sure was good at hide and seek, blind since birth… But she could hear you breathing no matter where you were hiding so she always won hide and seek.
Lilly, is not on social media but some of you may remember her as Lauren Chastain…. She has been my best friend since I was five and has been my solid stable angel during this time of my life. She and her family took me in like their own on Christmas eve when I was kicked out of my own childhood home, and my life was threatened by someone I loved the most. 😣
She was always my solid rock, and I her’s. We experince the world differently because we feel it, we dont see it. We arent interested in what society thinks is correct, we operate at our own pace. You just never know when your life is going to switch, hold onto to the people who love you and know you and trust you and prove their loyalty no matter what. Sometimes, it’s just one person and that person is very special, far more special than a basket full of “eggs”….. I’ve never been “fast” or competitive, but I’ve always paid attention to what matters. Life isnt perfect, and it sure as hell doesn’t always make sense… Keep going.
Jesus walked alone, he was called a lunatic too and they still hung him on the cross.
