The pace the ATLA world develops is genuinely crazy. Like it stayed the same until Aang's time pretty much, then the war accelerated technological development.. but going from medieval ish to post apocalyptic within 200 years feels somewhat absurd idk.

i honestly hate the "mcu"-ification of atla. i liked lok for what it was, it wasnt perfect and i think atla was the stronger show overall, but i dont think lok was terrible, but i think it made one big mistake that followed in the comics and books: it explained the magic. a huge strength of the way atla did its magic system was that there was enough information for it to make sense, but there was also enough left unanswered to make it feel really whimsical and otherworldly. the spirits were also like this in the original show, which felt appropriate. the spirits were strange and borderline lovecraftian. i feel like in lok they explained too much of the logic behind bending. ironically enough book 2 "spirit" felt the least spiritual of the whole franchise. while the possibilities for this world are endless, i dont think every single question of this world needs a canonical answer. i think creators, especially in the fantasy genre, should always leave somethings to the imagination for the fans. i think a better idea for a show wouldve been a limited series covering the younger years of the gangs kids, fleshing out a setting and characters that we know instead of creating something thats so removed from the original series it might as well be a different IP. it also just feels kind of...mean? i guess, to have an apocalypse happen in korra's time when we we spent so long watching korra struggle to save the world and suffer because of it.

It doesn't feel like the same show anymore. It hasn't since Aang defeated the Firelord. The OG was the GOAT 🔥

@DevsStoryForge

I’ve honestly been wondering if you were going to make a video talking about this new series. Personally I like the premise and I’m excited to see it along with the upcoming movie

It’s sad that Legend of Genji was miles better than anything avatar studios has done in years. I just want that interesting story with brand new levels of world building that wasn’t just cyberpunk futuristic fantasy I’d seen a million times before back.

Just to catch everyone up on things. This is according to a leak that came to light during December. As far as I know, unless something else has been revealed since that I've missed, there is no proof on whether this leak is true or not. The leak itself is attributed to Knight Edge Media, who stated that towards the end of Korra's life, an apocalyptic event happened that caused only seven cities to exist, known as the Seven Havens. There we learn that the Avatar has a twin who got brought into the White Lotus' folds to train. While we don't know if the twin has any bending or not, according to the Roku novels, it is highly unlikely she is an Avatar. All the while the protagonist of the story is pretty much an orphan with a prosthetic leg that seems to be doing her best to survive. She has a spirit as a companion, though I don't remember exactly what type it was.

Knew it was twin Avatars, didn't know it was post-apocalyptic. This has potential.

@azraphon

Oh why can’t they leave avatar alone Korra was bad enough and that was right after…

@sanguiniusonvacation1803

Well I can say this. Whoever they are, they will not be able to be even half as blood thirsty as Old Giant Boots herself was.
